Wow....very sad. I remember 1SG Mattison when I first joined 3/75. He was an NCO that I truly looked up to and set the standard for those of young studs who would go on to serve as leaders in the Regiment. I was one of the many who thought, upon his induction into the RHOF "it's 'bout damn time."

I stayed in touch with him on FB and I'm very surprised at his passing. His legacy will long outlast his short time here. Truly a loss to the community.
