DD214 To Confirm MARSOC

Can anyone help me determine how to verify MARSOC classification with a DD214? I have an employee who was a Marine and claims he was MARSOC and injured in battle. I will be requesting a DD214 and simply want to know what to look for.

I was told that MARSOC will not show up on a DD214.

Can't speak for the USMC, but in general, unit assignment history is NOT going to be reflected in a DD214.

Check his MOS. They have a specific one. It will be indicted. I'm keeping it brief in order to not give posers info to use later.

The time period of services should also be noted.

Is there an abbreviation or code that will designate MarSoc?

A huge "thank you" to all the comments. I've received some PMs that I believe will put to rest any doubts I have.

Every one of my four DD-214's show the Separation Transfer Command (?) or whatever the ReplDepl is called. None show my units of assignment. I guess individually YMMV

On mine that is Blk 8b Station Where Seperated and it states: HQSPTBN MCB CAMPPEND.

Blk 8a specifically states my exact unit, major command and MCC. MCC in the MarCorp is Monitored Command Code which drills it down to your exact Bn and sometimes company.

Also see the timeline he was in. I was in from 90-94, MARSOC wasn't even in the conception phase at that point. Hell we were of the first CAAT team on the stumps right before I got out when the Corps was transitioning from jungle warfare to more focus on desert and urban.

I had a guy join the ranks at work and started talking about being in MARSOC, as a sniper of course.

I was asked to test him and it took one question to see he was full of baby droppings since he was only a few years behind me in the fleet.

He was eventually confronted, fixed and removed.

8a is Last Duty Assignment and Major Command. 8b is Station Where Separated. Block 11 is Primary Specialty. That is where his military job will be listed, and it is very specific.

Hey bro, I already talked to the original poster on the phone and after talking to a few people at the units he claimed the OP concluded dude is FOS. I'm just glad that MARSOC is getting posers.
