I pray that there are no more names to be added, I know that this prayer will not be answered. These people are my "hero's", may God bless them and their families.

My heart goes out to their wifes, kids, families, and team mates. They gave their lives protecting us, our country, and our way of life.

Rest in peace guys, you will not be forgotten.

I just checked the updated list and I am glad to see that EODC Biliter, EOD1 McSween and EOD2 Hall were added. They were filling an empty slot for us (Air Force) at Kirkuk, and they will be sorely missed.

(just sayin)

On another note, I've always had the utmost respect for those who choose to help our country in this capacity. The courage to disarm explosives is amazing and awe inspiring to me. True Patriots.
God bless EOD and their families.

We missed one:

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Joshua P. Mattero, died July 24 while trying to clear three roadside IED's in Baqouba.

I know he was not US EOD, but Sapper Luke Allsopp (British EOD with 33rd RE) was the first EOD tech killed in Iraq. I believe he may have been the first known casualty at the hands of the Iraqis in the entire war. Would be cool if we could memorialize the lad.

For those who are interested in attending: The memorial will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of May this year. We've got a lot of friends to put on the wall.

Many good friends have come and gone...

As a former EOD tech in the Army (Class 01-140S), I had the opportunity to either work with or meet and get to know many of the techs that have given their lives in OIF and OEF. I know SSG Kim Voelz's husband, Max, also an EOD tech working for VIPSSA, and I went to school with Johnnie Mason and Kevin Jessen. Jessen and I graduated in the same class, were assigned to the same unit at Fort Jackson and then bought houses in the same neighborhood in Columbia, SC. We became very good friends and I served as his team member for his Team Leader Certification Course and then as his team member thereafter until I moved to another unit and he went to the 22nd Chem Battalion (EOD) from which he was TAD'd to the unit he went to Iraq with (for the third tour of his over there) and he was then killed while on that same tour. I miss him greatly to this day and know that he is doing bigger and better demo ops at the Demo Range in the Sky! God bless each and every tech who has stood in harm's way and saved the lives of many fellow soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen. We will NOT forget! "Initial Success or Total Failure!"

He died of a heart attack while PT'ing. While unfortunate, this was not a job related death.
