Armorer1- and others

Some months ago I lose many picture in failure of hard drive- to include pictures of Memorial in Cupertino, CA.

It is very easy for me to take them again, if there is still interest.

I will post them to album on SOCNET- with preemptive apology for my photography skills with hand-held camera.

The entire Memorial is of excellent design- the statue especially- the 2 SEAL, back-to-back. I have similar thought and emotion of Wingman for Fighter Pilot- 1 good Man with you in the fight and victory is always within reach.

Also, there are constantly many children playing in the area- the Memorial is adjacent and attach to large park area. But I have never seen the Memorial or statue disrespected, even by possibly un-aware children. I think the design and statue aid in this.

It is a good place.

I salute the 19 who are now in the Great Hall.

Regards,

Johan, I found this site which has pictures of what appear to be the memorial you speak of. I would love to see any pictures you might take, but in the mean time there are a few on here for anyone who has not seen the memorial at all.

I had the opportunity to meet Danny Dietz's mother recently. It was on honor to shake her hand.

She is truly an extremely nice woman. I was at a loss as to what to say to her so I didn't say a lot and simply made small talk as best I could.

RIP, you will not be forgotten.

It's nice how the backdrop for the memorial is kids skating or playing at the park. You got the military honor up front in your eyes with the laughter of happy children as a background for your ears.

It was clean, too. Only piece of trash I found to clean up in the entire area was a single cork from a champagne bottle.

Here's a few pictures I took today.

10 years ago today, how time flies! May we never forget their sacrifice. A year ago today while out in California on a TDY, I realized what day it was and jumped in the car and made the 6 hour round trip drive up to Cupertino to visit the memorial. It was very nicely done and as "Look.Don't Touch" said in the previous reply, it was very clean and surreal. ..........LDT, thanks for the pics also.......I took some but am too much of an idiot to figure out how to put them on here.....

Anyway, the trip to the memorial was a very small way to pay my respects and to say thank you! A memorable day that I will never forget.......

The families of these two warriors, Matt Axelson and James Suh, should be proud of their heroes and this monument, they will never be forgotten. May we keep in mind the families of all of the warriors who were lost on that tragic day....
Rest easy brothers, your sacrifice will never be forgotten!

I saw Danny Dietz last on SDVT-2 QD, as he stop by before heading to the airport in Norfolk....I just got to the team as a support guy and was getting my cage ready....Danny and I spoke for like 5 mintues...Can't recall word for word of our conversation, but he did tell me "stay out of trouble..." as he was exiting the facility. I think I've been in trouble ever since....Danny and I were just an acquaintance. I'm just a witness and servant...Thanks for letting me share...

Thanks.

I told my kids these were good guys that lost their lives fighting bad guys for our country. They were sad and my daughter asked if she could touch him, and I snapped that pic when she did. Melts my heart, man. I know they don't "fully get it", but they were very respectful and seemed to appreciate it more than one would expect at that age.
