I had a spider on the back of my head and SF wanted it removed. Of course when I have hair you cant even see it. It made no difference to MOD DELETE, and like I posted earlier, I know a guy with a big 'USMC' and he got MOD DELETE no prob. He just got laser surgery to remove it once he got to MOD DELETE.

It's always been my opinion that if you are dumb enough to fuck up the body that God gave you, with a bunch of tatoos, that you are too dumb to be in Special Forces. Just my $0.02 worth.

My opinion, not so humble, is that anyone dumb enough to fuck his body up with tattoos is too dumb to be in Special Forces. The drunkest I've ever been didn't induce me to fuck up the skin that God gave me. Take your tattoos to Haight Ashbury where somebody just might just admire them.

Gentlemen, ask yourselves a question before you hit the "Submit" button:

"Will this post rub a moderator the wrong way?"

Examples might include posts which mention topics which are not appropriate for mixed company.

Police yourselves, please.

Thank you.

I guess I better pack my shit up and take my dumb ass home...along with half my team and most of the other teams. If I was so worried about this so called "skin God gave me", I wouldn't expose it to shrapnel and gunfire. How's that for .02?

As far as the guys going to the Q- you needn't sweat the tats. There are tats aplenty in our world. As far as going on to something that would earn me a mod deleted were I to name it, lets just say I knew a few fellows with extensive tats who are now in the realm of those whom the moderators delete should they be mentioned. :D

This should be like the vetted SF List. You post something on there that's not permitted and you get "whacked" banned for like 30 days then re-enstated with no problems. Keeps everyone on their toes.

Sorry if I came off like anyone's dad.

We just need to remember where we are, what we are discussing, and the fact that this board can be read by virtually anyone.

I do not have a secrecy fetish. Nonetheless, I do believe in discretion.

Thanks.

I would reconsider (or remove) any ink that might MOD DELETE.

By the time the MOD DELETE, one might question getting that SOF tattoo.

I know that’s fucked up, but consider the line of reasoning.

SECOND WARNING. THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER.

FUCK AROUND ONE MORE TIME, AND YOU CAN GO BACK TO DISCUSSING CAKE RECIPES IN THE LOUNGE.

MOD.

Ive actually never seen a SOF tattoo other than scrolls and short tabs. One kid did show up to the Q with an SF arrowhead on his forearm, with no tab, airborne or otherwise, over it.

Never seen some of the ODA designs as tattoos? I've seen quite a few of them... seem popular with 7th and 1st Groups (maybe others).

Personally, I agree with Nightlandnav. MOD DELETE.

LOL! This is turning into mad libs.

I decided to get a tattoo on my MOD DELETE. Her eyes went wide with horror when I told her that I was going to MOD DELETE. Then, with the aide of several large rubber bands, a tube of Astro Glide, and some good old fashion SF moxie, I proceeded to MOD DELETE :D

I had no intent to dissrespect MOD warnings, my mistake, won't happen again.

I'm not clear on "SECOND", but I am very clear on "WARNING" and will stay clear of topic.

I posted in ingnorance of what was being delited, now that I know what, "why" is self evident.

Seen many an individual in group with tattoos. Some were painted over most of their body; visible as well as non-visible. Everything that was visible which was innappropriate (it's like porn; you know what it is when you're looking at it) was forced to be removed. There are some people I know with visible tattoos that were not made to remove them. I would suggest that anything military in nature not be tattooed on anyone looking to get into the SOF business. You never know where you'll end up.

SF is a different animal when it comes to tattoo culture.

Here's the way I see it.

If you are trying to be incogneto, then what looks more like a target for the bad guys, a guy in a tucked in polo shirt and dockers with a short hair cut? or the tattooed guy in shorts and a tank top with long bleach blond hair and oakleys?

Depends on were you are I suppose.

Now, military tattoos are probably not the best idea, but who really cares?

If you are in the bad guy's back yard, with funny looking weapons and kit, it's not going to take a rocket scientist to figure you that you ain't there with the Red Cross.

Now, that being said. If you are in any question, don't do it. Tattoos ain't going to open any doors for you. Like it or not, it is look on unfavorably by the general public and potential employers. The small tattoo on your ass isn't going to make much of a difference, but when you start inking up your arms, you are going to cross some boundries. People will treat you differently.

I have a full sleeve, and have friends in SF with tons of tats...
When your kicking in doors it doesnt matter.
I would shy away from military related tats, but when you think about it, what does it matter.
No ones taking my @ss alive...and if they do, the amount of tats you have isnt going to change anything.
Just dont be that guy with his 201 on his back...
And if your debating tats before you get in, then just wait, get in, and then ink away.

Not all missions are kicking doors, some cultures the only folks with tats are criminals. If you are wanting to maintain a low profile, no viewable tats is the way to go IMHO.

As Matchanu said they will not open any doors for you. As a civie....they can close doors, especially in white collar businesses. When I was working for a Wall St. firm if I had 2 equally qualified men applying for the same job, the knucklehead with a tat on his hand or a fricking flame inked onto his neck is not going to get the job.

If I didn't have a any ink I would wait until I reached my career goals before getting easily viewable tats.

Just my .02
