R.I.P., SSG. Anyone know him? I ask because I served with a Cpt./Maj. Viola in 3/160 who could have a kid that age or a very young brother.

I knew him. He was a prior SEAL pipeline guy who came into SF through the NG and recently went AD. He was a really great dude and a hard working example for his peers. Losing him hit me hard, as I am sure it did a lot of folks. Prayers for his family. Blue skies brother.

Second good man down in a week. SSG Richard Vazquez was also a Texan and a member of 3/7. Different ends of the country, both reported as IED victims.

Actually the incidents were both not too far from each other, as far as AO's go. I knew Alex and had just spoke with him last Friday.
Ramp ceremony was Monday, and the memorial was for both of them tonight. Very sobering.
RIP Warriors.

For anyone interested, we are renaming the camp we are currently at, Camp Vasquez/Viola. Also, for any of you cross-fitters, there are Hero WODS out there honoring both of these studs. The Lumberjack 20 (which I have made my every Sunday workout) and the Filthy 50 (which sucks the laziness right out of you, lol)
Anyone who knew Alex, knew he was a beast in the gym.
