R.I.P. to Sgt. Robert L Weston, my father.

My father, Robert L Weston, said growing up that he always wanted to be a soldier, and he did just that. In fact, he did even better than just become a soldier. He became a member of the most elite unit in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Army Special Forces.

My father always believed in doing his best at any job he did, in fact he did so well as a radio operator that after his retirement he was offered a position with the 21st air force as their Tactical communications officer, just in time for the first gulf war.
He told me just a few years ago, that while he was in the communications center, the battle plans for the first gulf war arrived, and he had to receive them, as he was the only one present with the security clearance to handle them.

I with complete honesty, can say, that yes, my father was a good soldier, and a great father.

He passed away October 19th, 2017 after having a severe heart attack in febuary that he never recovered from. My mother and I did the best we could to make his life easier, I even moved back in to help, but it was not enough.

I'm going to miss him, but I remind myself that he is hanging out now with his friend, and Medal of Honor winner, another (Green Beret) Sgt. John Cavaiani.

To those who knew him, and to all of the members of this community, I say thank you for your service.

I wish you all well.
Stephen Lee Weston.
