Welcome aboard Devil. You posted an intro before commenting on any posts so you started off on the right foot. What unit(s) did you serve with? Read the stickies, read more than you post, chime in when you have something of value to add to the conversation and don't step on any toes. Fairly simple rules, but some still fuck it up. Enjoy. My name is Jerod. I joined the Army in 2002 whenever I was 17 and discharged in October of 2015. I started out as a Civil Affairs Specialist eventually re-classed to Infantry. I was assigned to a LRS ABN unit for the remainder of my career. 2 combat deployments. Looking for like minded people to share information and stories with. Currently I am a motorcycle technician in Texas. Looking forward to seeing what this site has to offer, thank you for the approval.

New member here. Civilian, but proud to live in the city that is home to the world's largest naval base, and near the home of the East Coast SEAL teams.

Joined because I have friends from that community, and because I have a possible case of stolen valor.

Happy to be onboard, but for obvious reasons I'll be doing a lot more listening than talking.

Hey DBS, a bit about you. Vague career path, hobbies, something.

Thank you.

Sure thing!

I'm a physician (anesthesiologist, to be specific). I'm also a staff writer for an English Premier League fantasy soccer blog. My wife of 25 years is a teacher. We have two kids in college and one in high school.

I enjoy obstacle course racing (Spartan Beast coming up this Saturday in South Carolina!), Muay Thai, bourbon, and craft beer.

I also enjoy recreational shooting (pistol, rifle, and shotgun, including a little bit of IDPA), and was privileged to receive a lot of my initial pistol training from the late Al Clark, who will surely be known to many here. (But please don't be misled--I have no delusions that I'm any sort of tacticool operator and I'm not here as a wannabe. Shooting just happens to be one of my hobbies.)

Anyway, thanks for having me--glad to be here.

As requested, intro

Erik
11b then 11Z 28 years, Mech Inf, to ABN IN, Light IN and other stuff in between here mostly to research an SF guy making outrageous claims.

I never jumped from a space shuttle, never claimed to take a 4 mile shot and save a patrol, just your average Infantry guy that did what was needed along the way......

OK.

I was in from '66 through '69. Enlisted Airborne Unassigned. Basic, Infantry AIT, Benning Jump school, SF Training Group, 91B4s, early '68 Hon Tre Island, then A-233, A-239, ETS extension about 3 months. Went home.

Returned VN as Civilian. 2 years or so, then Thailand, Cambodia, Zaire and vacationing through about 76. Stateside ever since.

Found this site through a spur of the moment search trying to remember when the French Foreign legion jumped into Kolwezi. That jump was not listed on his list of combat jumps.

Cheers,
Cnut

Hello folks,. I messed up and didn't introduce myself.

13 years Army as just a regular guy (19D) '05-'18. I spent the majority of that time at Fort Riley with 1-4 Cavalry. Did three deployments out of there( 07-08 Baghdad, Iraq 08-10 tell Afar Iraq, and 12-13 paktia Afghanistan ( RC East, COP Sar Howza). Just went on terminal leave and finished out as an OC in an Infantry Battalion covering Scout platoons( Camp Atterbury Indiana, which I didn't know existed until I got my orders). Just accepted a job with Constellis to get my foot in the door. Thanks for having me!

Intro

Hey everyone. New here to SOCNET, I joined a long time ago but then never got back on and posted. I was a junior in high school when 9/11 went down and joined DEP that same year and left for Benning in June of 2003. Was E Co 1/19 at Sand Hill and went to Airbonre school and volunteered for RIP. Was assigned C Co 3/75 and did multiple OIF and a OEF. Got out in 2007 and became a civilian paramedic in 2010. Been doing that ever since. Live in Montana now with my wife and 4 daughters. Like to shoot, hunt, fish, and drink quality bourbon. Thanks to everyone here for their service, look forward to bullshitting with fellow brothers. RLTW

Newbie

Hello,
Well about myself enlisted into the Marine Corps for a short stint. I made it through boot camp and while I was at Camp Pendleton in Infantry School. I fell viictim to a miss thrown grenade by another Marine and ended up being medically discharged for severe TBI. That was in March 1991. I'm going to stop whining about myself and say this is a great site and thank you for letting me participate here.
