0317 was not established as an MOS in the Marine Corps until WAYYYY after 1995. If this turd was a Scout Sniper he would have listed the appropriate MOS for the time Frame.

I took the liberty of looking up the MARADMIN message mandating the MOS change and it was signed in 2006.
So why is someone who retired in 1995 saying he held that MOS?

I don't know about you or anyone else but that's not how I do my resume.

If you say you held a certain MOS then you should have a government issued piece of paper somewhere in your files awarding you that MOS.

Case in point my resume says Special Operations Target Interdiction Course and NOT the current name of Special Forces Sniper Course because that's not the name of the course I attended.

What it more likely means is someone looked up the MOS numbers on Wikipedia or a Marine website and copied down 0317 for Scout Sniper.

In combat the food just cooks itself and everybody is something cool. It's science.

That's not comparable as they indicate different levels.

This dude is a poser even if he listed the correct MOS- 8541.

My friend was at the Ia Drang. We went to a Vietnam get together. He told everyone he was a cook. Crazy Billy Walkabout was there too.

Agreed, and again appreciate everyone's assistance (while I actually learned about the MOS as well).

I did alert the recruiter as to "my" thoughts on this dude. Not much they can do since unsubstantiated in their eyes, other than removing from my interview slate and perhaps not putting on any others as well.
Hell, this dude even had the balls to post the exact same resume (as an attachment) on one of his linkedin accounts (believe he has two).
