That tree looks like something out of the Blair Witch movie. Good looking area. Looks like you can reach out and touch one with "Maw Belle" there.

I won't eat any fish from that river, so I've been trying to network to get some good fishing spots not polluted by DC and/or railgun juice

The Rapidan isn't too far from you...not a bad little river to enjoy for a day trip.

Yeah, it's decent for Brookies--when it warms up try terrestrials that are hatching--had my best luck with ants, and stay more in the shadows for those spooky little fuckers.

The Gunpowder in MD is a nice brown trout stream. ~2hrs NE of Northern Neck.

New Rigs

Went to academy and picked up some new sticks (6' Ugly Sticks and Shakespeare reels - 3 bearing), wanted a fresh/inshore rig and found one on sale so I bought two:) Might be a bit heavy for fresh but I only catch big fish so it shouldn't matter

They have a sale going on for their combo stuff - 25% off list.

Ugly Stik's are awesome. I almost exclusively fish them. Never had one break.

Remember the old Ugly Stik commercials where the pissed off wife would try to break the husbands rod and not be able to get it to break? Pretty funny shit.

I'm partial to Ugly Stik since it was the first really decent rod we could afford as kids. I don't do enough fishing to justify a high end rod, reels are a dime a dozen unless you're tourney fishing. These seem to be pretty solid fiberglass stiks so for what I plan on using them for they fit the bill.

Technically, it's a spinning reel. For those of us that booger up baitcasters.
