VPN suggestions

I read an article on a VPN provider named Ivacy. They supposedly have a lifetime membership for ~$30! Only concern I have is that they're headquartered in Singapore. Is that a legitimate concern? Any other thoughts on it?

I'm currently using ProtonVPN (free version) but figured if I could get a lifetime subscription for ~$30 it can't be bad to have a reliable lifetime plan.

Stay away from anything close to China

I usually recommend Mullvad. Stay away from anything free, because that means you're giving up something else.

If a product is free, you usually are the product.

One other thing to consider: that ‘lifetime’ plan will likely really turn out to be 5-6 years. Their terms will change, you wont get new/better network speeds, or the company will go out of business.

NordVPN seems pretty solid.

Easy to setup and easy to use on smartphone, tablet, laptop.

Solid price/performance/trust

This is the first thing that came to mind.

I agree on Nord VPN. I am now in my second 3 year contract and i can put it on 6 devices running it at a time so that covers everything for me uncle sugar does not, plus my wife’s stuff. It is $2.99/ month at the 3 year deal.

VPNs cost money to run - the ones that do it right, cost even more. A VPN is not something you want to cheap out on.

I've used Air and Proton, and would recommend Mullvad. I'm staying with Proton even though those other 2 are cheaper ^ because it's just easy for Windows, Linux, and Android... plus email bundled in.

I use AirVPN. I found it a little clunky to set up but the service itself is great once you get going.

I renew every 6 months (about $32.00). You can pay by card, PayPal, or Bitcoin.

There are plenty of servers all over and I cannot remember the last time there was downtime.

PIA can be bought with a gift card and use sharklazers as an email if you want to stay off the radar. NordVPN is also good. There is a site where you can compare all VPNs selecting features you may want, their privacy policies, and what country their servers are based in. However, for the life of me I can’t remember what it’s called.

In addition, a VPN is just the tip of the iceberg internet safety wise. Start reading at the Electronic Frontier Foundation to get a better scope of what plugins you should be using with your browser. The amount of information you’re transmitting is... terrifying to say the least...

I still use express VPN. Works consistently for everywhere except some places in China.

I use PIA, Mullvad, and Proton. PIA works really well on the iPhone. Proton takes a little care to ensure it's running once you unlock the phone. I'll occasionally run two VPN's on my phone when traveling overseas to make sure the VPN remains connected while the phone is "asleep." NordVPN works well for that.

The VPN comparison site can be found by googling "That one privacy guy's VPN comparison chart."

I used HideMyAss in Germany and it worked well except Hulu, Netflicks, and sometimes Amazon would get pissy with it and I'd have to find a new server in the US to base out of as those companies tended to be pretty aggressive in snooping folks out that were overseas and not suppose to be viewing their content.
