I've been reading these boards for a while without an account, and although I finally signed up in case I want to ask questions I’ll probably continue to lurk for the most part. Not sure if I should post here or in the “lurker” thread, but Sharky says your first post goes here, so here it is.

I’m an Army brat and my dad retired from Special Forces in ’78 as a Colonel. He was the commander of an A-team in Vietnam, advised the Shah’s special forces in Tehran, and was the Psyop battalion commander at Bragg – needless to say I’ve lived and traveled to a lot of places. A lot of my friends are PJ’s and Combat Controllers, with some of them now at the 24th – they come out to Tucson a lot for training so we get to hoist a few at the Trident Grill when they do. (Yep, owned by a retired SEAL.). I’ve always had respect and gratitude for all servicemen and women in general and especially for Special Operations – my dad is my hero and his A-Team my family. He’s still going strong at 77 – he skydives, plays racquetball, softball, tennis, just bought a new Harley, and runs the New Mexico Veterans Memorial in Albuquerque, which is one of the nicest in the nation. I got my sense of humor (irreverent), tenaciousness, and patriotism (honor, duty & country) from him.

I myself was in the Army Reserves & ROTC many years ago, but only for a short while – my brother died violently and I got out early (kind of rocked my world). I’ve always regretted not getting back into the military, and once I got married thought my chances were over. Now that I’m divorced and they’ve raised the age limit, I’m looking at getting back in and I’m here to learn and pick up info on my possible future in the military. Since I’m a woman, I’m looking at Civil Affairs/Psyop – I want to go Airborne and learn a language, so I’m just trying to determine how to do all of that. I’ve been avidly reading the web for as much info as I can, and as RV808 said a few years ago, the professionalism, camaraderie, intellect (and humor!) on SOCNET is unparalleled on the net. Thanks to the SOCNET family for allowing me to be here and to learn from the best.

Introduction

Greetings Gentlemen,

I served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 yrs (1988-1996). Wpns Co. 2/23 - Dragons Platoon 0351. I enjoyed my service time and still have numerous friends on active duty stationed throughout the world.

I am a LEO with a mid size agency, approximately 300 sworn. In my 11yrs, I have been fortunate enough to experince numerous assignments and details throughout the county. I'm currently assigned to the gang unit and the SWAT Team, so I have nothing to complain about.

This is a unique opportunity for me to interact with fellow LE and experienced operational military professionals from around the world. No matter what the mission is, we want the tactical edge. So gents, I'm an open book seeking knowledge.

Thank you for allowing me to post and review your site.

Respectfully,

Marc

Howdy, all,

Thanks for having me in. No military experience here, but I sure can learn a lot from you all, especially in the medicine department. I'm with a Midwest US&R Task Force as a medical specialist. Expeditionary medicine is my interest and you've got plenty experience here. Learned something new already and just registered yesterday. Hope I can contribute as well as learn. God Bless you all that serve and stay safe,

Spunky
