Retired SF soldier fighting MMA at 59
Watched a couple of his fights, guys a brawler. They say he’s retired SF, SGM Clark Wright. his fight name is actually “sergeant major”. Fighting guys half his age at 59, and beating them. Pretty cool to be doing at his age.

Clark and I were in the same SFQC class and trained together after class often. He came from a boxing background so he worked with me on my hands and I came from a kickboxing/karate background and brought in leg techniques. I recall we picked up the intensity some during language school to deal with frustrations/boredom of the course. I heard he got into MMA a while back prior to retiring. He's always been a brawler and good dude. And yes, he's a retired SF SGM.

I just thought it was awesome that even in retirement this guy is still out there kicking ass. Definitely motivational lol.

I served alongside this guy in 1/75 for three years in the late eighties. Shit, he was old back then...
He was a really good guy. Funny as shit, in a quiet, unassuming way. Sarcastic, but quiet about it. Rarely bitched in public about anything. But, he would be the one to make that snide, hilarious comment off to the side that only a few could hear...and then look totally innocent while pretending he didn't say anything....you know the type. I really liked him. There are a couple other guys on these boards that were in our squad and also knew him well back in the day when men were men and Giants roamed the earth....1RiserSlip and Tiger13 come to mind. He looks funny with all that hair. A scooby-doo SF E9...who woulda thunk he would go that far....

He looks familiar, but I cant recall the name. We're the same age so I'm guessing either he was a late bloomer or was a SGT/SSG when you got there. Was he in A Co when you got there?

He was my Q Course Phase One / SUT instructor in 1997. He seemed old then; looks the same as he does in one of those pictures in the link. Rumor was that he was a fighter back then, guess they were true.

I always knew that if you still wanted to be physical past 40, it was entirely possible. Some of the top guys in UFC are in their late 30's, there's guys running marathons and doing crossfit at that age, so why not MMA?

I was on his team in 10th GRP. He was still doing tough man fights back then.
The whole team was seriously concerned he had CTE (punch drunk) back then. I can't imagine how his wife feels when he gets out of the ring. Good dude, good fighter, but I hope he stops.
