I've been traveling and missed a lot but wow. Japan was the real deal and didn't sit on their lead. I like that, but Belgium also maintained composure and rallied strong. Lukaku should get an assist on that game winning goal.

As much as this has been a great Cup and I expect the quality to continue to grow in years to come, I just can't get excited about Qatar.

How can three goals in ~25min not be spectacular!!! With last scored seconds away from the end of extra time.

This day game time difference sucks for me.

I will catch Colombia v England tomorrow, Viva Colombia!!! The quarter finals AND the final.

I guess this World Cup will be known as the year of the penalty kicks. England and Columbia are about to settle things.

Definitely an ugly match. Condolences to those with Colombian households. That's a miserable way to lose, especially as the Colombian presence in the stadium made it almost seem like a home game.

My family is pleased with the result.

My ancestors didn’t fight the Colombians to rid America of poncy royalty and tea drinking fairies :)

And cheering England on Fourth of July Eve? Good lord.

Meh, given the proximity to the 4th of July I see your point. Immediate family were/are English.

How's the petition for the name change of your home state going?

I've never liked the British much. They tried killing half my family, not only in the US on my grandmother's side (they were here since about 5 ships after the Mayflower) but on my Grandfather's side (Scots and Irish).

Plus the Who and the Beatles come from there, two of the worst bands ever to band. Add to it half my loony liberal friends are always bemoaning Trump and wishing that the Queen would "take us back" and I've got a stick in my craw about England right about now.

As for the Beatles and The Who, you're probably still upset about their "invasion".

Yeah, but the Stones and Zeppelin more than made up for them so there's that...

Belgium - Japan. What a match !!

England - Colombia was a boring match. But I am pleased with the result.

I am very much looking forward to the Belgium - Brazil match. It should be a great game.

Once again - this cup has had some awesome games. Very exciting !!

Agree with you on the Beatles, highly overrated "pop" band ......but The Who - one of the best bands ever - Townsend an incredibly gifted guitar player and song writer, Keith Moon though as looney as a bat on rabies, one of the best drummers of the time, and Entwhistle - set the standard for Bass players - truly an inspiration for decades of following Bass players to emulate.
