Damn, they are out to ruin 1/75

So, The Nazis at HQ DA have decided that it won't be fun on River Street on St Patty's day.

I am so glad to be done........

It would probably be OK if it was dudes running out and kissing them. Sounds like harmless fun to me, but I guess that's the dinosaur in me talking.

And they're going to stop those civilian females from running out and planting kisses how, exactly?

Hmm...according to the article:
Quote:
"Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson said the marching soldiers “need to look professional” and “red lipstick is not part of the uniform.”
Now, that just doesn't sound like the Army, but, fortunately, the Army wrote down what is and isn't part of the uniform...in a bunch of big books. Being a professional soldier, I know how to find those big books.

According to AR 670-1, "Standards regarding cosmetics are necessary to maintain uniformity and to avoid an extreme or unprofessional appearance...Females will not wear shades of lipstick that distinctly contrast with the natural color of their lips, that detract from the uniform, or that are faddish, eccentric, or exaggerated."

I don't see anything in there about no red lipstick...in fact, if the soldier has reddish lips, red lipstick would be the only color they could use.

So...Mister Larson...care to come up with another reason...one that is, you know, not just something you made up because it sounded like what you think the Army does, but something that is, you know, true?

Wait a cotton picking minute.

No women kissing male soldiers?

But is it ok for open displays of kissing between same sex soldiers?

Modern military.

I'm expecting Rod Serling to step out any moment.

Thank God the Command Group at Fort Stewart has their priorities in order.

How does this even become a blip on the radar? What shit-heel made this an issue? Oh, but they used the word 'professional' which now seems to be subjective along with 'standards' and 'discipline.' Let me do some analysis of the decision making process:

Rangers (99.9% male, reputation for iron-clad discipline/standards = threatening) are marching in a parade representing the Army (gasp! no diversity in those ranks!) attended by a few hundred thousand drunk people, half of which are young women who are naturally attracted to Alpha males, and make an open display of heterosexual affection (no, no, no! this isn't inclusive at all of our LBGTQ servicemembers!) means that an avalanche of complaints might roll in...

But were they to march in heels, well then...

In protest, I will be running out and kissing as many soldiers as possible this 17 March. With red lipstick.

Next we are going to hear about a PFC from 1/75 getting arrested for throat-punching a SCAD student when she tried to give him a kiss. "But, the First Sergeant said he wouldn't tolerate uniform violations, and that guy from Fort Stewart said red lipstick don't belong with my uniform."

Yeah well they tell us every year that we "aren't allowed to drink alcohol that is offered too us" too, but every year we are staggering by the end, so I am sure this will go over just as well. We aren't marching this year anyway, so I am not concerned.
