Glad you guys got yours. Max, kick your postman in the nuts, that's unacceptable, though thoroughly understandable. :D

Improvise, adapt, overcome...:D

One of these days I'm going to order a couple of pounds, when my budget adds a couple of zeroes to the left of the decimal.

We've just received a wonderful new Kenya! This coffee is as good as the Karogoto I had recently, from the same supplier. The new Kangocho Nyeri is from a small co-op in the Nyeri region of Kenya, and it's my first ever Fair Trade Certified coffee. This coffee explodes wild blackberry and Concord grape right out of the cup, with a lot of depth and sweetness...

Mother's Day is coming up, and guess what makes a GREAT, exclusive gift. You bet: a pound of our fresh-roasted new Fair Trade Kenya! Don't forget this forum receives 10% off every purchase, and I donate both to Socnet AND the International Medical Corps with each purchase. You can put a smile on your Mom's face AND provide much-needed medical care to refugees in the Sudan all at once.

What is it? I've been having really bad luck with coffee makers (starting with the Bunn disaster), and need a new one.
Checked your website-are you talking about the Presto? Aren't those discontinued?

The Presto is discontinued, yes, though people keep digging them up on random estores and the 'bay. Here's a new one which gets good reviews from goffeegeeks, brews hot, and it's cheap yet decent build quality:

Poison I just bought a pound of the Columbia Los Progresivos CENCOIC. Can you reccomend a grinder for it also. I'm sure you already covered it, but this looks like a new lot and I don't want to screw up the flavor by not using the right grinder. Thanks for the assist.

There are two basic grinder, one is like a blender, blades that whirl around hacking up the bean and parts of the bean. The other type is a mill, two cutting surfaces that mill the bean. The old hand crank grinders where mills. There are a few electric mills on the market. I have been told the Mills are the best. I have used both and I really can not say that I have noticed a difference.

Thanks, Red Dawg!

A blade grinder is better than no grinder. Pre-ground coffee is the worst, it goes stale quickly, within 3-4 days most people can taste a drastic difference.

I recommend buying a Capresso or Baratza. $100 may seem like a lot, but it'll last a LONG time. My Baratza is going strong 6 years later, with some HEAVY usage. Their grind is very uniform. With a blade grinder, there are different sized particles: the dust will over-extract and make it bitter or sour, the big particles will under extract and give you, well, not much of anything. Uniform means good, even, optimal extraction.

Baratza (buy the base model, NOT the plus)
