That said, your closing statement is spot on. Odds are KY will be at best an 8 or 9 seed, even though they probably deserve one of the play-in spots.
I had not realized they lost on Saturday. 17-8/6-6 isn't pretty. Yeah, if they lose more than 4 more and have a poor showing in the SEC tourney, they will be a bubble team. Lunardi still thinks they are in the NCAA tourney.

The top 16 seeds were preliminarily released yesterday; no real surprises but they have UNC as a 3 seed (I think the committee suffers from recency bias, I see UNC as a 4 seed). No way Duke will get a 1 seed at this point unless they win out in the conference and ACC tourney.

True statement. The way my Wildcats are playing, they'll be lucky to make the NIT this year...

well Im happy to say for the first time since I was a junior in HS that the UVa Cavaliers are ranked number 1. I will be even happier if they can beat Miami tomorrow night. I dont feel good about it since they shot so poorly saturday, we will see.

You should be happy! Great feat!

I think Virginia will take care of business against Miami.

well you were right Miami wasn't as close as I thought it would be, UVa changed their game plan it seems. I noticed they didn't take as many 3pt shots as they usually do. Im looking forward to the Duke -Tech game tonight, should be a good one.

At FSU vs Clemson and we finally won against a ranked team. Last week against Virginia during the second half was disappointing to say the least. Go Noles!

Yeah that was a exciting end. I was glad to see them comeback like that.

I was going to go but it was my son's birthday. But we did have it on at home.

Good game. I am getting optimistic again. They played very well without their best player, and zone is really working for them. They really stopped Tech's star player, and as importantly, they limited Tech's rebounding.

If they improve with the zone, Allen stays hot, and Bagley gets back in, THAT is the national championship-caliber team.

Also, great Clemson-Fla State game, as was 'Nova-Providence.

Duke is really playing some good ball now, they could go all the way.

Well, I was going to apply for the Louisville coaching job. It seems I might have another option coaching for Arizona:

Now the NCAA has to let the Loyola Ramblers into the tournament now, they won the MVC title.

There was talk not more than a couple of weeks ago that anything but an outright win of the conference might keep them out of the dance, regardless of how well they've played this season. They are 25-5 for crying out loud.

Huh, imagine that. Allowing a conference Champion into a playoff.

Good for them. There's a lot of good basketball being played this time of year.

I am impressed with Va Tech's play last night. They were down 29-17 in the first half and came back and won in the last seconds of the game. Just wow, it
proves to me that they can win against anyone this year when they set their minds to it.

Well, we hope the win last night locked us in for the dance. I about fell in the floor when Greenberg actually said something positive about Tech.

Go HOKIES!

Gee, I wonder why....

Not taking anything away from Tech--they played well--the officiating was horrible. Tech had a few over-the-backs against Carter and Bagley that weren't called, then the guy who held Carter from getting the loose ball near the end....

Do I think the game was decided by refs? Not really. Do I think they kept it close enough for Tech to win? Yup.

A good friend of mine's son has a full ride to one of the Big East schools (NOT one of the 'name brands'). Besides having school and everything associated with it paid for ($65K/yr?), they have full 'training table', tutors, training facility, etc comped. The local restaurants are in on it too....it's a big shell game to skirt the rules and give these guys the absolute best that they can.

The school also gives him a check for $1800 per month for 'off campus living expenses'. What happens is that they get four of their buddies to go in on an off site apartment, split the rent (cost 'em $400 ea) then they all pocket the rest. So they're each banking about $1400 a month.

Some schools (like a certain Big 10 power I won't name) give their guys $2100 per month.

Then there are stories he told me of one school paying a 5 star recruits 'posse' (5-6 guys) to live with him, etc. That kid spent 2 years at school and is now in the pro's.

I don't know how you stop it, but these guys (I'm sure it works for the big time fb programs too) are making out pretty good.
