12 selected out of 18,300 applicants.

Just have to put it out there, that one of the candidates ( Loral O’Hara ) was once again a Purdue graduate.

I read somewhere . . .

maybe on this board, that when Capt. Shepard was doing his initial interview for the space program, somebody asked him "what are you really good at", and he replied "killing people with a knife". I bet the interviewer didn't expect THAT answer.

Are you fucking serious? That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all week...and I'm at a senior staff planning conference, so, the bar has been set pretty high. You should be proud. - Gavin

And now it is a good two years of learning how to be a functional, useful astronaut at the JSC... The hard work and endless hours of studying and practice, practice and practice and more studying then endless grind of paperwork and more training...

Not that I imagine it would prove to be any real obstacle to a Navy SEAL.

Congrats on making it into the Class of 2017, Sir!

I feel sorry for Frog. In 20 years, he'll be inundated with verification requests "My Gynecologist claims he is an MD from Harvard, an Astronaut and a Navy SEAL. Is he a phony or do I need to have weekly checkups?"
