Mixed review on that topic. The racer strap and clasp are very comfortable, and help reduce the weight factor (vs the steel bracelet).

The first few years I had that Breitling I wore it for everything I did. The clasp broke after about 3 years of wear. I then put the original steel bracelet back on, and drove on. About two years ago I got a replacement clasp, and put the racer strap back on. I only wear the Breitling some of the time now, and never for adventurous shit, so I expect the clasp will last a long time. I now wear my Maratac, Traser, or G Shock for rough stuff, and the Breitling or my Omega Speedmaster for more gentlemanly pursuits.

Lazy morning at the kitchen table, in the sun, cuppa Black Rifle Coffee CAF fixed up with a shot of Bailey's, Darby the Ridgeback at my feet, tweaking a couple of Seiko 7S26 automatics. I like them because they are quite dependable, open to modifications, and best of all are inexpensive. Put on domed sapphire crystals on both, and the one on the left got a new face and hands.

NFW Watches

The Shumate Diver is my favorite military-themed watch in the "boutique watch" market. It was designed with continuous input from several active duty SF. It was named after SGM Walt Shumate and this was coordinated with the Shumate family.

NFW http://www.nfwonline.com has raised and donated money for many veteran charities and the owner takes part in many veteran events every year.

But aside from that, the Shumate - which I think is their best watch - is like a tank, but not heavy nor intrusive. I own three of them in different styles.

Just to circle back, they (Sangin) sent a very nice email explaining that my mail was in their spam folder and apologized for the delay.

No harm, no foul.

All tools are CHEAP on eBay. I don't think I've got $50 or $60 total in this stuff.

The good side is that it's another minor hobby that keeps me from running the streets at night and hanging out at the nudie bar.

LOL... I think the closest nudie bar to Asheville would be across the border in Johnson City, TN. 60 miles or so. No Golden Dragon around here

Pretty darn cool. I have a sneaking suspicion though, if I ever took one a my watches apart, it wouldn't be long before that watch went flying.

Do any of you guys recommend a watch repair service?

Cleaning up, I came across my Chronosport UDT I bought back in the mid 80s. I don't think I've worn it in close to 15 years. It's pretty beat up but I'm wanting to have it repaired/restored.

I always do local. Also, see what Chronosport recommends.

On the third hand, gift it to me and I will make sure it in my will back to you and yours upon my demise... :D

Chronosport went out of business in 1999.

Googling reveals several repair shops specializing in this watch. I see lots of opportunities for scamming.

Was hoping for a trusted recommendation.

ETA: Also, you'll probably easily out live me.

I just sent my Submariner to IWW in Cary, NC. It took a month longer than advertised for service and polishing but the price was very agreeable and everything looks good to go.

I've been to the one in Johnson City. "Fuzzy Holes" is NOT a place to find ANY attractive women!

There's an off chance that Breitling would service it; since they made them for Chronosport. They still have a market in good condition https://www.watchrecon.com/?query=chronosport+udt

Rather not terrifying that you know that...
In keeping with the OP of the thread, did you intently watch some fuzzy hole(s)?

Picked this up a few weeks ago. I was looking for something a little more “antique looking” and then happen to see a video on YouTube.
