Exclamation Purple Heart veterans service offices closing

what a shame as to the great work they do for veterans

Purple Heart veterans service offices closing because of a lack of funding
Closing Purple Heart service offices does not mean veterans will no longer have a place to get help. Every veterans service organization provides service officers who help including the VFW, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Those with pending claims through Purple Heart service offices will get their cases transferred to another veterans’ organization's service office

That's a shame, but it often times comes down to management of programs and their effectiveness in pulling donations.

Quote:
The group has operated at a loss the last two years — $1.9 million in fiscal year 2016 and $5.2 million last year.
That's a bit of a red-flag that I would have to look at in depth. Unfortunately, it's often big ideas for good causes, but poor execution.

That's a shame. One of my fishing buds, who's a 'Nam vet sings their praises for their VSO work.

OASIS has paused their VSO work as well. Seems like non-profits that are not "official" VSOs aren't making ends meet.

The real shame in the whole thing is the we even need outside VSO's, but I don't want to go off on that rant. It will make me go all DD0311.
