Follow The Four - Glock

https://us.glock.com/followthefour/

Glock launched this "Follow The Four" gun safety pledge. It's a great idea I think.

1) Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
2) Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you are ready to fire.
4) Be sure of your target and what's beyond it.

I would replace number 1 with: "Properly secure your firearms at all times, and ensure no unauthorized access."

Number 3 handles treating them as if they are loaded.

What are your personal Four?

To me the idea of #1 was 2 fold. First treat it as if it is loaded and second, an unloaded gun is just a paperweight. I like the idea of "Know the status of your firearm" (You probably heard this before). I think it covers the "Always Loaded" part and addresses the idea that if it is NOT loaded, it is but a club.

I'm cool with the other three.

They forgot #5:

Don't do the drunken monkey dance and do back flips while carrying your Glock at a nightclub.

1. My house is not child proof, nor will it be.
2. I believe in the KISS system, safeties stay off.
3. Booze and guns do not mix well.

These are the ones I was raised with and the ones I taught my kids.
