The First Purge

Saw this ad after the SOTU.
I only saw the first movie. Didn't know there were sequels. I'm sure DD will go see this.

I thought by the title of this thread that this would be a new movie, an origin story of some sort.

I have a feeling The Purge flicks have reached the end of the line, but I'm not sure if they earned their producers money, so there may still be some life left in he franchise yet.

I believe it is an origin story.

Oops.

I'll bet the first purges were pretty sloppy affairs. Also bet it was a trial and error learning curve and a lot of people who thought if they just stayed in their house and locked the deadbolt that nobody would bother them.

As we've seen from the first couple of movies, deadbolt locks were about as effective as the ones most people have on their bathroom doors.

Certainly wasn’t effective in The Shining.

Here’s Johnny!

To remember, and then go back to the ledgers and the commuter train, that was impossible. He knew he would eat his heart out if it ever came to that."

The original "The Purge" was pretty good, and an origin story would be cool. However, ever since the left began than stupid #purge thing a while back all subsequent purge movies have become little SJW virtue signaling projects. Same as what they did to star wars and everything else popular that Hollywood gets its mitts on.

That being said, I will not see it in theaters (i don't watch any Hollywood garbage anymore), but I'll surely be utlizing my "privateering" licence for this one.

^^^ Figure, guess I won't waste my time watching the sequels.
I do like the whole concept of 12 hours of no consequences once a year.

As long as they keep making money, the producers will keep churning them out.

This 3rd film has the highest budget so far...$10,000,000. the first 2 had budgets of 8 and 9 million, respectively. They all have earned almost $100,000,000 apiece, which is a pretty good return on an investment of less than $39 million total.

That's hollywood, you never know what's going to fly.

I watched it the other day. Pretty much pinko, commie, queer hollywood propaganda.
3/4 of the bad guys were white the heroes were hoodrats. Typical class warefare bullshit PMCs are evil etc. This franchise had some great potential, hopefully they make no more. The TV series is probably the same.

^Just got done watching with my boys, thought they would like it. What a damn joke...

The bad guys are conservatives in the government trying to kill off minorities, the good guys are the local drug gang, go figure....

I should add the "bad guys" are mercenaries with the iron cross looking flags and patches ala' Knight's Templar
