Looking for someone.

Anybody out there know this guy?
SPC Gordon Despot
Co A, 2BN 75th INF (RANGER) (WH3MAO) Fort Lewis, WA
Was awarded his RANGER TAB, 11B1V on 27 May 1983
according to a copy of orders provided by him.

States he was a member of the GOLDEN KNIGHTS.
Wears gold HALO WINGS.
Wears Combat Jump wings Says he got them going into Granada.

He applied for membership to our club but has yet to come up with a
DD Form 214 after being asked several times to validate his service and awards. '83 is not that long ago and thought I might get lucky in here.

Any help, positive or negative, is appreciated.

I don't know, Bo-
Gold HALO wings (huh?), combat jump in Grenada (and was an E4 in Grenada if he graduated from Ranger School in May), then went to the Golden Knights...

... and got out as an E4????

There are a few 2d Batt, right side old scroll guys here. His claims should be easy to support or refute.

You might try going into the Ranger School archives. Not sure of the web address. A simple google search will get you there. Once you find the Ranger School page, click on the photo that corresponds with the time he would of graduated. Pull the picture up, see if you can find him that way.

I was in Aco during that time and don't remember the name (but that doesn't mean much). Magician was the skygod, so he might know him.

Yep.. first time I ever saw that was on his vest.

I did a search for Ranger School Graduates in his era and can't find a web site. Anybody
know of a site that might have grads listed or photo in May of 83? Looks like I might have to do a public records check.

Don't know. I am asking around some retired SF-RANGER Tabbed types in Tampa (SOCOM). Maybe they will be able to direct me to a source. I know that two of them make the trip to Benning and stay in touch. LTC BILL PEAK (RET), and LTC DON COX (RET).

Bo,

You can call the Ranger Training Brigade Senior Tac's office, explain who you are and why you are seeking the info and they 'may' be able to help you.

Contact info is on the Benning home page www.benning.mil

Thanks.... I'll give that a shot.

Done.. I think I will ask what class he graduated from and see if he gives me that info
and then will check out/print out the photo and have him show me where he is in the photo.
That should be interesting.

Thanks Scotty.. I think I will print those out and leave them in a convenient place where
he will have to see them and see what happens. I also sent a request for his records from St. Louis. "We'll see what we will see", said the blind man.

I thought someone on here had the jump manifest for 2d BN. Should be easy enough to see if he's on there.

You would think so and also the manifest for the Granada jump but it seems that it is not a record that is kept for documentation either. If someone does have that manifest I would appreciate a look see and let me know if his name appears on it. Several of the members of our organization have also been trying to get info on this individual without much success. He may appear as a SP5 or a SSG if his story line is true.

Several months ago down here in Naples a poser " RET SF LTC" was sentenced to 5 years for his lies and disrespect for the uniform and service of others. We take this seriously in this area. Might be because of the large number of veterans living on the SW coast of Florida but I am sure everyone in here can appreciate the feelings as well.

No need. He is full of shit.

He was not in A Co during that era, he did not jump with the HALO jumpers of that era, and no one wears "gold MFF wings." That is the gayest shit that I have ever heard.

He is not on the manifest for Urgent Fury.

Burn him down.

Please do share your BDA post strike with us, and let us know if you need anything else.

PS: Challenge him to produce a DD214. If he provides one, grab it, and hold onto it, as it will be fraudulent. Falsifying a Federal document is a felony offense. We can pass it to the FBI for prosecution under Stolen Valor statutes, among others.

Thank you very much. We appreciate your bringing this to our attention.

I'm with Magician on this...

I'd bet my ruby studded Delta Force badge that this guy is a fake.
