I was looking at the model that Leopardprey posted the link for which is the A model but then I found the B model.

Once I get my money squared away I think I will have to get the A model with the Open 3-prong flash hider and the main selling point for me is the brown furniture.

Brownells Retro Model BRN-10B Rifle .308: 1955-1960

Close copy of late-model rifles, as adopted by Cuba and other nations
Chrome retro BCG
20” lightweight barrel in 308 with 5/8″-24 threads & 1-10″ twist, nitride finish
Black furniture including original style handguard
Portuguese-style closed-prong flash hider,
BRN-10 receiver set machined from 7075 billet aluminum
Custom bolt catch, takedown pins, selector and mag release to match retro style
Not compatible with 308 PMAGs due to lower receiver design
$1,599.99 retail

Up-to-Date & Compatible. Brownells BRN-10™ rifles accept standard metal DPMS/SR-25 magazines. They are NOT compatible with Magpul PMAGs due to lower receiver contour. A majority of the components on the BRN-10™ are compatible with modern DPMS/SR-25 parts or AR-15 parts.

Sorry, nothing like the originals. (I'm a HUGE Dutch Armalite guy) It doesn't even take PMAGS, original Dutch Armalite's will.

The most recent sale of a Porto AR-10 (Portuguese contract) parts set built up on a US made lower went for just under $4K-something.

I recommend the long out of production yet still fairly common Armalite USA AR10B. Then you buy a new lower from Armalite that takes PMAGS, swap it out with the original lower which takes those horrid proprietary/mod'ed M14 mags and sell it. Now you have a lower on there that will take PMAGS AND therefore original Dutch waffle mags, making it look even better from the retro POV. All that for about what Brownell's wants for this thing, used AR10B usually go in the area of $1200 or so.

I was actually talking with another Dutch AR10 guy earlier today and we agreed we are severely underwhelmed by the Brownell's offering.

Just MHO and YMMV of course.

AR10B upper will not work with any lower that I know that takes PMAGS

I have a GA Precision AR10B. I looked and could not find any lower that would allow me to use PMAGS. The contours of the mating surfaces are different.
