Happened to be doing something near the TV when one of those Gold Rush spinoffs was showing footage from some ginormous PNG mine, and I realized that following this thread I had not grasped the magnitude of your challenge.

Massive peripheral topo variability, jungle practically at the wire-edge, and oh, you're practicing incredible terrain self-denial since 96.2% of your operating space is a BIG FUCKING HOLE from which it's impossible to position central obs or defensive measures, and through which you can't maneuver. Nothing like taking the 2piR route *every* time you need to respond.

And although I'll grant dramatic license to the scenes they chose to show, the folks breaching the fencing looked all kinds of no-shit serious.

Hope they pay you well, and damn, dude, be safe.

Helos get shot at. That's when the weather is clear enough to allow them to fly in the first place.

The ADS system I am familiar with would cost millions and is currently only a USG item but it does work at those distances and works with pinpoint accuracy. I guess trip wires and punji sticks are out?
