I remember when I arrived to 7th Group in the mid 80's (prior to the forming of TF160) we had our own aviation platoon. They had the upgraded Black Hawks for that time period, flew on NOD's, etc.

It was great because we could call them, and if they weren't busy, we could get some quick air. Didn't have the nut roll of submitting support requests out weeks ahead etc.

Now it's a command. Yep, change for sure

May I jump in just to say that I envy you all;
a Fairbairn Sykes dagger.
All I had was a flying butter knife!

Exit: stage left

Yeah, right. That suck's a big Johnson.

When they switched the TOE to like BN's (2,3,4) , my old company of Hawks went from A to C.

Tripod: I was a Groupie. At the time, 87, I was in fifth but colocated with seventh. We moved with 5th, and we ALL eventually were taken hostage by 160th due to lack of what they thought was adult leadership!!! LMAO! Remember a Collier or Montgomery?

Was Collier and old crusty CWO Pilot? It's a long time ago, but one thing I remember is that a couple of the pilots (Vietnam era guys I'm sure) seemed to me (being 24 yo) like they could have been my Grandpa. First few rides I took with those guys scared the shit out of me

Will this unit's new DUI allow them to get the 160th to fly better?

HIGHLY doubt that shit, Joe. Just pisses people off due to the cost of replacing it on uniforms.

Miss the Groups. I was with 5th at Bragg for a year and some change, then followed the Legion over the blue mountains to the land that Wickham promised.
