Permanant FARP site
On a permanant FARP site like at an Aux field, how long is a survey good for? What if obsticals have been placed in close prox to the site such as 40' weather antennas?

Who and what's it for? If it's for regular traffic, i.e. any one flying in the NAS and in the FAA published materials, it's considered current as of the date of the pub. If it's a tactical op, as the planner, I always judged currency of any survey in direct relation to how much of my ass was on the line. Tactical also implies that each branch and sub unit has their own standards.

You really should post this question in the CCT Forum - the Army uses surveys of FARP sites if available, but they are NOT required. I can site a FARP on a roof top if I please (and have...).
The USAF requires surveys...

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Someone has to carry rockets and heavy shit up stairs when that happens. lol

I thought the FARP site was wherever the pallet landed! I have seen all kinds of shit done with FARP sites. Permanent sites aren't any fun.

Yeah, this site is pretty boring and located on the approach end of a runway and part of a taxiway. No high speed airdrops like back in the day. The users are not AF so they will be pretty much on their own. Nuff said.

DZ/LZ surveys are good for 5 years after date of approval.
HLZ surveys are good for six months. FARP surveys typically don't have an expiration date. But you asked about a permanent FARP. If it is at an established airfield, then it no longer is a FARP. You do want to list all obstacles and hazards in the vicinity of the FARP, especially new antennas etc. *AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-235 and Army ATP 3-04.94 Chapter 2 have lots of good FARP stuff. |
