Shoot me some specifics and we can dig around.

Need to know what BN, what job he claims he did, dates assigned, location he claims to have served at, etc.

Okay, now it's 7th Bn 159th 98-01 Ft. Campbell. When it comes to you Night Stalkers I'm not really sure on the unit breakdown. At first he couldn't remember and stated there was only A-D Bn's. That's why it smelled to me.

159th is now a combat aviation brigade at Ft Campbell that falls under the 101st ABN. It has absolutely nothing to do with the 160th. During his claimed timeframe it was an aviation maintenance battalion in the 101st ABN. The 159th (Both Bn and Brigade) have absolutely nothing to do with the 160th.

Your guy sounds full of shit. If he can narrow down an MOS and company in the 160th we can debunk that rather quickly but if he claims 159th we've got nothing to do with that.

Thanks Black Birds, I took care of him. If you want a pic for a wall of shame let me know. It was good! And I'm chuckling as I'm drinking this whiskey!

Cut the poor boy some slack. He just got his facts and his history confused when he was building his "look at how cool I am" legend. 7/159th Avn Bn was originally designated 159th Avn Bn (prior to big Army deciding that giving everyone a regimental affiliation would make them better warriors. Or something.), and A/159 was the source of CH47s for the original Task Force that has grown to be the 160th SOAR(A).

So, yeah, in his mind he was in the 160th. By proxy.

Does that also go for the 617th and 1/245th?

Just wondering how they are now looked upon. At least the 617th wore the SOCOM/USASOC patch and was later designated as 160th, but the 245th didn't. AFAIK

The most efficient technique

160. Special Operations Aviation Rgt. poseur: "I am Nightstalker, I fly the Little Bird/etc."

Johan: "Where is your Voodoo Mask of the High Voodoo Priest?"

No mask, no RW Pilot.

Actually- one of my Girl- due to mission/specialty shared some similarity with Unit Crest/Insignia of 160.

So I would ask for meaning of Insignia. It is something I do not think non-160. would be able to answer effectively.

Regards,

That is a great place to start. Or at least it used to be with the "Unofficial" insignia. "DWITD" I havebeen away from there for 20 years so I dont know if they still teach that stuff in GP. I sure as hell hope so.

For some, Hangar number is a way to go. Where the "Bunker" was.
What is the range number for 160th.

there are quite a few ways to tell...............dont want to give out the questions so googlefu cant be used for all of them.

And picked the wrong airframe to boot - don't most posers work on/fly little birds or DAPs?

You're just confused because most people would rather be accused of selling gay midget porn than admitting they work on chinooks.

I believe that posing as a little bird or DAP guy has got to be one of the dumbest things someone can do just by the size of the community. Not to say that it hasn't been done. I actually saw a resume that a guy submitted to do maintenance on little birds where he claimed 8 years of experience in a line company. I'm not sure how he thought he could get away with that but it didn't turn out well for him.

Fix, it didn't turn out well for Ecklund either. Busted him out in front of his "bros" and forced a cowering apology. Even threw out adding another felony point on him through the SVA if he were to keep talking about the 160th. Though that wouldn't fly but he's a dumbass.
Again, thanks Gentlemen.

Angry 617th comment

617th SOAD was part of 160th from its start , switched a couple times , on who supported it and , command issues , but finally was controlled by 3 Bn 160 SOAR , trained by training department etc. I was there from day one till Feb 1990 , Loved the job !

You should get vetted and put BTDT under your name.

617th was not part of the 160th in it's beginning. It was an independent special ops capable aviation unit. Just like the 129th, and all the SF flight platoons. I knew, know, worked with or flew with most of the pilots from that unit and it's predecessor (designation escapes me) unit. It was in the early to mid 90's by the time 160 was able to completely assimilate them, and then it was awkward, that theater commander thing the main obstacle.
