1st. Recon PME, Recon in Vietnam

Tomorrow should be interesting. Another Vietnam Recon man and I will do a PME on Recon ops in Vietnam. We were there at different times and different units, me 3rd Force and him, 1st Recon. Since nobody in the battalion, including the CO, was born when this occurred, I have no idea how it'll be received.

JSOC,
I assume it's at the Bn Classroom at Las Flores, do you have a start time?
Thank you.

As I understand it, class will be in the battalion classroom, 3rd deck of the CP. 1300 a 1430: team leaders and NCO's. 1500 - 1630: SNCO's and Officers. 16:30 - 18:00: in the "harbor cite" bar.

This is for the battalion, have no idea if it will be recorded or not.

My mistake, it's 1300-1430 and 1500-1630, then the bar.

Thank you. I just spoke to one of the Company Ops Chiefs who said I could sit in if I can make it and that he would also record it.

I was one of the Lucky ones who was at 1st Recon in the 80s when you were there. I believe the 1st Sgt of Charlie Company was with 1st Force in Vietnam as was the LPO of Medical (He was a former Marine who became a SOT).

Digger, this awesome. Video is a must. See if Don Crawford can cover it. I'll try to let Bob Coats know, but it may be too short notice.

PME went well. About 35-40 in each group. As mentioned, Vietnam ended before anyone in the battalion, including the CO, was born. We had a PowerPoint of selected slides to show the terrain, most had no idea of "triple canopy jungle," M-79, or some other things unique to Vietnam. Each class ended up around 2 hours instead of the scheduled 90 minutes. Some good questions from a very impressive group of Marines. To the best of my knowledge, it was not recorded.
