I didn't take Mako's post as an insult either. The deputy in the video is in the wrong line of work and should be charged. Georgia has mandated de- escalation training annually for officers for several years now. Hopefully this crap comes to stop.

A good Question. They were in DCS custody. Tells you much about DCS's acumen and ability to managed their charges.

Mako06's post isn't an insult. The Goddamn video is. It insults everyone.

He mentioned it makes all kinds of problems worse and he's right.

For one, even though some-folks abuse the 911 system, videos like these will cause other folks to hesitate

For those of us that take this job seriously and don't treat people like the dickbag in the video does, we are professional. Every department has this asshole... the cop that is "bothered" by having to take a call like this, then when he gets there, HE is in charge and will make everyone know it.

Yes, Police need to speak calmly, sometimes assertively, rarely aggressively. And 99.9999999% of the time, that is exactly what happens.

You're making a big leap that this officer was taught to "shriek".

I hope a proper investigation occurs and isn't swayed either away over emotions.
How exactly did I insult "all cops"?

In many of these incidents that are filmed, you see the police screaming at the perp, which seems to 9 times out of 10 make the subject even more aggressive and less likely to obey commands.

I was actually giving you guys the benefit of the doubt by assuming this is what police are trained to do, rather than the other road I could have gone down, which would have been to suggest that many cops are roided out assholes who like to get aggro with everyone.

And I was kind of kidding about how cops quitting the site over this thread, but you know it has happened before...

Not offended by Mako's post and agree with AZ5326 100%.

I've been in LE for 20 years and it's just not what it used to be. Sad to say it, but the next generation of cops that I've had to train have been a bunch of entitled pussies. With LE reputation at an all time low coupled with pay and benefit issues, nobody wants to be a cop.

The standards for hiring needs to be higher. My old department routinely turned down awesome combat vets because they had "visible tattoos"... Made me fucking sick to my stomach.

By insinuating that cops would quit the site over members's negative comments about the incident, thereby somehow supporting the actions of the Officer in that incident.

I don't "know" that, but no big deal. Take my comments as something I would say to you while having a beer with you.

I’m both. BTDT and in Federal Law Enforcement and did not take any offense in his comments. That POS was out of line.

What I do take offense is when some people (LEOs) get but hurt when LEOs get criticized. Just like any profession you have your good and Bad ones. The bad ones should be rooted out and fired and sometimes prosecuted.

*scratches head*

No one said they were offended by the criticism.

As long as the result is not, "The officer did not violate established policies or laws...."
