Soldier dies at CBJTC Florida

A soldier went missing during a land navigation course at Camp Blanding, FL on Wednesday.

After 3 days of searching by numerous government and local police and fire agencies the soldier was found dead today.

SPC Cayln McLemore died on the land nav course while conducting an individual land nav test at the BLC course conducted at CBJTC.

Cause of death is unknown at this time. The assumption is he dehydrated and became disoriented and succumbed to the heat. However, it's possible he may have encountered wildlife and sustained injuries from that encounter.

RIP Soldier.

I'm currently assigned to the class he was in. His next of kin has been notified. We saluted the police escort with the ambulance carrying his body.

Spent a lot of time on Camp Blanding growing up and on Kingsley Lake.

Not hard to get turned around, out in the back 40;

RIP to the soldier and prayers for his family

This is really a drag. One can get turned around and in a major pickle in a heartbeat on a land nav course. I know this from experience. RIP, soldier.

RIP, soldier...

They do solo land nav courses now? It used to be three man teams in training, always, for this very reason.

The standard here at BLC is a one man event for the actual test. The practice runs were in a group. It was a self correcting course. Maybe 400 meters there was a point with a grid. The points are E type silhouettes with your current grid on it

Dehydration causes BP to drop rapidly, and in many cases, unconsciousness comes. The heart can eventually slowly stop beating.

UGA, was there a reason to think critters got to him and killed him, or maybe after he died? Sad regardless.

RIP SPC

RIP, Specialist.

It’s summertime heat in FL, everyone in the state should be hydrating at half their body weight in ounces.
