I'm finishing building my 1st AR upper, set up in .300 blackout.
It's purpose is to be a safe queen for SHTF situations when I might want a 30 cal subsonic round that'll shred whatever it hits.

Anybody have any recommendations for an already-loaded ammo brand that'll fit the bill? I'm looking for only about a hundred rounds of this hunting stuff, so it doesn't have to be as cheap as Tula or Brown Bear

We have sold cases of Remington in 300 BO, but no idea about it's prowess as a hunting round. S&B makes it as well

I shoot several brands of ammo thru my 300 BLK. I tend to go with Silencerco 220 gr in subsonic (which I only shoot with a can), and a variety of manufacturers for supersonic. My advice is pick the load that will go best with your rifle. What is the barrel length and is it a pistol length or carbine length gas system? What buffer are you running?

10" pistol impingement
I've only idea what the buffer in my pistol is... it runs a 6.5" 5.56 just fine. Might adjustment be advisable?

For a 10" pistol-length 300 BLK, I recommend H1 or H2 buffers. I use an H2 in my 9". I'm guessing you have a H buffer if it is cycling a 6.5" 5.56.

The type of buffer might be stamped on the buffer, or you can weigh it...or just shoot your preferred loads and see if it cycles. SBRs cycle fast, sometimes too much so. Swapping out buffers slows down the BCG.

Had a conversation with the owner of Elite Iron about this today, his advice was Gorilla ammo. He said that it was consistant and creates huge wound channels.

I buy a lot of that Wolf Gold Ammo from SMG. You can use the 4 pay option if you buy more ammo than you planned on.

Golden Tiger Ammo, more like golden shower ammo.

So I see these reviews about golden tiger ammo and how the quality is top notch yadah yadah.

I buy a case at a local gunshow and am shooting a few boxes tonight.

Guess which ones failed to detonate and which ones fired...

Spoiler alert, here is the answer. About 75% failed to fire even after multiple attempts. Website is still up, but all of the emails are now rejected and returned as deliverable.

.22 subsonic seams to be in demand... Empty shelves in my AO. I was able to pick up .22LR for <$.08/ea.

Any good ideas for .22 subsonic?

Other than driving to OH and begging DH for a small portion of his stash... :D

Yes, so far not a problem. Primer pockets are tight, easy to resize. 2 reloads, 3 total firings, for the batch of brass I am on now.

Ammoseek.com

Currently list 4 companies that have .22 subsonic for under 9 cents/round.
Remove the subsonic requirement for .22 at 6 cents/round.

Palmetto Armory has a deal pop up about every day with 1,000 rounds of 5.56 (generally 55 grain) and something else. Might be 10 PMAGS. Might be a PMAG D-60, like today. But the deal is usually 399.99 + shipping. I get daily deal emails from them.

Subtracting out the average retail price of the D-60 takes the ammo to $0.27/round, if my math is right.
