Amazon freebies on kindle

How about a thread for free kindle editions. Be advised that there is usually no set time limit and the poster only is providing a link (please do) that was good for a free kindle copy of the book at the time it was posted.

Let's try to not stray too far from subjects not relating to military, special operations, etc... unless the book is just downright amazing.

Excellent - I've just cracked open the enemies foreign and domestic trilogy so I'll read Proximity next. I scan the amazon freebies list and have built a huge queue of stuff to read.

Project PL 8

This one is fiction and has some military involvement, but it's got all five star reviews so I'm going to get it for free and read if I have time.

Montfort The Early Years 1229 to 1243

Quote:
Simon de Montfort, the founder of England’s Parliament, was the greatest knight and foremost military strategist of his time. Friend of Saint Louis, thorn in the side of the Plantagenets, he was chosen Viceroy by Prince Richard’s crusaders and the Christian lords of Palestine. He served as Senechal of France for King Louis’ heir, but rejected the Crown of England, championing instead the New Millennium of democracy preached by Dominican and Franciscan friars.

Was he also to father of King Edward I? It was the gossip of the time, and there is some
persuasive evidence.

To Free a Spy

4.6 out of 5 stars

Quote:
The Boeing 747 is minutes from inflicting a nuclear event of Hiroshima proportions on Los Angeles! Can the man hand-picked by the President unravel the web of espionage, extortion and smoldering revenge in time?

United States National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden rocks the White House to its foundation when he provides secret NSA documents to the Washington Post alleging that the U.S. gathers telephone and email records of its citizens and electronically spies on its international neighbors. President Garrison Cross and the U.S. face unyielding condemnation from leaders around the world and Democrats and Republicans alike at home. If Cross needs any more heat it comes when he learns that a CIA mole has outmaneuvered the FBI and a Russian scientist has escaped from a closed Soviet weapons factory known as Kremlyov with a cache of weapons-grade nuclear material, whereabouts unknown.

Sold Out

4.8 out of 5 stars

Quote:
Nick Woods used to be one of our country's greatest snipers. A Marine who completed a bloody, top-secret mission behind enemy lines years ago, he now just wants to live in peace with his wife.

But Nick is about to get caught in a grand conspiracy between a senior investigative reporter and a shadowy, CIA group.

After said reporter, Allen Green, breaks the details of Nick's story -- blowing the top off America's national security -- both Nick and Allen find themselves in the sights of a CIA hunter-killer group.

This CIA group breaks the law and kills at will, and they'll stop at nothing to take down Nick Woods and the reporter who published the earth-shattering story he'd been chasing for years.

Dream War

4.4 out of 5 stars

Quote:
Decades ago, the CIA developed the technology to enter our dreams and extract information. It was just a matter of time before they took things a little too far...

DREAM WAR
1980. Hector Lopez joins a CIA enterprise capable of entering dreams and extracting information. Lopez saves hundreds of hostages' lives by dream-linking to terrorists and foiling their plans. When the Red Brigades, an Italian terrorist group, kidnaps a US General, Lopez and his team execute every technique available for extracting information--including one that links our world to a dimension never meant to be discovered.

Present Day. The Sogno di Guerra--a Red Brigades sect--plans the slaughter of millions. And they've the help of Luzveyn Dred, the entity ruling the dimension the CIA inadvertently opened a portal to--the Spatium Quartus.

Aided by an aging expatriate, a recovering alcoholic, and a mysterious girl, Lopez must overcome memories of past failures and defeat evil--in this world as well as in a dimension of nightmares.

My Honor Flight

4.9 out of 5 stars

Quote:
A young soldier accompanies his great grandfather, Doug Mackinack, on an Honor Flight–a sponsored trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. During the flight, the old man shares stories from his platoon’s tour in Europe, many ending in dramatic (or occasionally, humorous) twists.

The stories share not only suspenseful situations, but also the emotional impact of the platoon’s journey through a broad range of humanity: Fear. Courage. Compassion. Anger. Love. Death. Eccentricity. Loyalty. Mercy. Retribution. In a final defining moment near the end of his tour, Mackinack is forced to decide his path in a split second. Will he return to the man he was before the war, or will he become the killer the war created?

When Mackinack and his great grandson reach the monument, there is one final surprise tied to events sixty six years earlier.
