Has anyone tried one on a rifle as their primary optic?
Pat McNamara uses a delta point on his carbine.

Nice, looking to do a lightweight setup.

I shoot 9mm iron sites, but many of my shooting buddies have tricked out .45s (and even higher velocity .40s/.38 supers) with slide mounted optics. They have successfully withstood (at least a couple) years of competition abuse (thousands of rounds). I've even seen one dropped during a hurried drawstroke, seemingly without effecting zero. All of these have been Burris or better quality.

I'm 54, and have considered optics, but (for now) I've switched from my (wore out?) right-eye-dominant...to a (now stronger) left-eye-combined-with-1.5x-safety-glasses strategy. Works well, even if the target is slightly more fuzzy. The front sight is sharp again.

I've tried out pistol optics, but it seemed slower to initially find the dot while extending my arms. I do like it on my rifle where it comes up closer, and very naturally, when I take my cheek-weld. I'm sure finding that small dot at pistol extended arm-length would get more natural with time.

Let's open this back up.... I put the Trijicon RMR on my G 40, G 41 and everyone's favorite, my G 38. I have not put but 20 rds or so through the G 38, may be tomorrow. And of course in my Lightpath custom holster with the XC-1.

I will upload when the Internet gods are more favorable.

I'm still not sold on red dots on pistols (for me). I've been shooting a G17 MOS with a RMR for a year. Really opens up the distance that a pistol can be employed, but I am really slow acquiring the dot at close range.

I think I would have to go "all red dot," and re-train on how I present the pistol to the target in order to get faster on close range work.
