Yeah so GPC and I decided to see who can shoot a 1/2 steel silhouette at 500 meters (roughly, I used mils to get range estimate). He used his G3, which was hilarious. I used the MWS.

Pretty good day, I'm still trying to figure out how to embed these so in the meantime, here's a few links to my very boring flickr account.

GPC and his masochist rifle of rotator cuff destruction...

https://flic.kr/p/tGHwAs

Me and the fabled MWS. Some of the hits don't have the same loud report from the steel target. By this point I had my dope pretty dialed in and I was shooting failure drills. The head has less of a ringing sound on the head shots, more of a sharp clang. I think this mag I only dropped two rounds to the left of the head on the failure drills.

https://flic.kr/p/sNaiM4

ETA - I don't know how to technology. How can I hot link or embed those videos? Because damn.

I don't have a flikr acct. and those privacy settings won't allow me to DL the vids. Otherwise I'd upload them to YT and share/embed where-ever you wanted.

I like the sound of that steel!

I have seen them go for $3500 up depends on condition.Make sure numbers match etc.Use the Blue book maybe?
Me I would Google around to get a base.
Mags are cheap the newest HK I have is from 1973 and as you saw worked great.
The internals of my rifle are HK marked from 1980.

Use SF mind tricks and trade a Kimber for it.

As TFG says, $2.5K is a good price. Do not pay any more. Make your starting offer $2.2K.

I found one on GB that went for $2,386, although the bulk of actual sales are $2.5K-$2.7K.

The first thing you want to do after you get it is put a heavy duty buffer in it, which will entail an internal mod to the stock for a factory unit. Makes it a completely different beast.

The second thing you need is a trigger job. Bill Springfield did mine back in 2009. According to his site he has developed an improved recoil buffer at much less cost than a factory heavy duty, and it does not require the stock mod.

http://www.triggerwork.net/hk.html

Good luck.

SOW_0331, links as requested. I noticed the birds didn't seem to mind the action. They can be heard singing right on thru the shootin.

Thanks brother. You did good work making it less shaky and disorienting haha. Those came out a lot better than the originals.

That steel target was humbling for sure. You can see in the third video that I was getting pretty frustrated with my pistol shooting. Guess it's time to put a little more focus on my sidearm capability. GPC was almost better...almost. The video also proves that I need to do more squats, as my butt no longer is the milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard.

TFG I don't know whose shoulder turned into a vagina, but you know how it goes. Long deployments, not a lot of sex, anything looks good after a while....

And finally this should inspire anyone in doubt that the MWS is boring accurate. That fuckin gun can shoot. Someday I'll look into the 6.5 CM 20" barrel because that's a round that has potential.

All I saw were a bunch of stray rounds hitting the sand and a steel target blowing raspberries. There was the occasional "Ding" but not that often.

Just saying....
