Simrad NV unit

AN/PVS-9 KN203FAB (large) or KN253FAB. (small)

Anyone here used them? Pro's/Con's?

TIA.

They were ok fifteen years ago and beat the hell out of a toilet paper roll and a pvs14 but for the price there are better weapons sights on the market with a much smaller profile.

Anything other than PVS-22 or 23 you'd recommend?

It's a money thing too, the price of one of the above vs. $1899 and $2999, reconditioned with new Gen III tube.

In that price range there are options from ATN, Armasight, Pulsar, FLIR. It depends on what you are looking for. If you want a unit with a Gen III image intensifier then that may be your best bet but I wouldn't discount digital, and thermal options.

SPI infrared is a good resource for equipment and information. I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call and see what they recommend in your price range.

For 300 yards in I liked the PEQ 2 with a monocular or just using an illuminated reticle. The pvs 9 was ok on the bolt gun but it's a big son of a bitch. The pas 13 was my favorite nod and the current Gen is nice and small but they go for 13k.

I got my hands on my first KN200 circa 1989ish. It was about as big around as a manhole cover and weighed about the same. I'm about a decade behind, but there has gotta be something better on the market than that system. I know they've gotten smaller and I'm sure resolution has improved but the original design is flawed and they've stuck with it.
