The Boys

The Boys on Amazon. Watched 2 episodes and I am hooked. The premise is Super Hero’s gone bad

I just binge watched this this weekend. Great interpretation of our classic superheroes, e.g. Justice League, re-imagined with a dark side. Definitely not for the kids. Completely unfiltered use of powers against humans. Ready for season 2.

The 9/11 episode was bit much for me, but so far I've been entertained. When I finish more episodes maybe it will seem more necessary. Overall the show is really funny in messed up really dark ways.

I really enjoyed it. Got a big kick out of seeing how some of the "supes" took advantage of their powers. And boy, Homelander comes across as the biggest phony-baloney douche.

I revisited the show and have watched the first 5 or so episodes. I am actually enjoying most of it.

SPOILER ALERT:

The episode with the plane followed by the religion bashing was quite a bit for one episode. I am not religious in the least but I still had the impression the show was going out of its way to equate Christianity with evil, or at least, hyper-hypocritical.

I watched E1 but now I can take it off my radar. It is unnecessary and inappropriate.

If I didn't know better I'd swear that Huey is Bill Hader.

I'm just glad to see Elizabeth Shue back in action! Serious 80s crush right there.

Different look at the supers for sure - Karl Urban continues to impress with his acting chops, his character is complex and convincing. I'll be back for S2 on a rainy day.

I chuckled when I saw the big reveal during the last episode. :-)

Perfect actor, perfect line.

I ended up finishing the season and am glad I did.

Me too. My first thought was, "Well played..." I'll be back after that....

My only issue with the later episodes.....

SPOILER ALERT:

The Deep getting "raped" in the gills was just too forced. Like he'd actual sit there and take it. There are better ways to demonstrator that karma that would be more believable in the story.

I enjoyed the season and look forward to the next.

It was darkly funny and I dig that. To some degree, it also does a great job of capitalizing on American greed vs doing the "right" thing.
