A welcome would be a lot easier if you could tell something about yourself.

Hello everyone, I joined this community a little over a year ago. Since then I've went to bootcamp for the Navy and am currently an Aviation Ordanceman on an Aircraft Carrier. I find the life of a normal sailor quite boring and it feels like I'm in highschool again on the ship. I joined the military for the brotherhood and I haven't found that yet. But whenever I see EOD guys on the ship they're a tight group and seem to look out for one another. Wanting to pursue a career in either EOD or SWCC and hoping to get some guidance from some guys on here.

Welcome back, glad you made the grade. Brotherhood begins with one man, a bond is formed with another due to a higher standard of shared commonalities--MOS/JOB, etc. You're in a Brotherhood, its called the Navy...and it has a long and proud heritage. The uniform you wear...guess what that stands for, what you belong to?

You raised your right hand willingly, as did I and almost every man and woman on this board. So stop the sniveling and whining...you bought the ticket, now you gotta ride the ride.

Congratulations on what you've accomplished so far. Thanks for stepping up to the job.

Look at this time as the first in a long series of tests. I was in the same boat you are in when I joined the Army, and I didn't pass the test. I whined my ass off as an MP stuck in a HAWK missile battery. Physical security? That wasn't what I signed up for as an MP. I wanted to be out on the streets, busting drunks and so forth. But I whined and complained about everything, let the PT slide, and let myself slide until I got my fatboy discharge.

From what I know of the special warfare community that I've seen here, what you see as suckage right now isn't even a blip on their radar. Take this time to learn to do your job better than anyone else in your division. Then show others how to do the same thing. Do everything you can to excel in this minor hardship, and to bring others along as well. Discipline yourself to do the best possible job in a bad situation, and you'll be on a good path once it's time to look at other options.

Best of luck to you.

Introduction & 1st Post

I was never in the service. I'm following Frogs directions to leave an introduction as my first post.
I am a journalist conducting research on someone who has started a string of multi-level marketing internet businesses over the last 20 years. This person has previously claimed to other media outlets that he was a SEAL.
My hunch is that he was never in the service either.

Appreciate the encouragement guys. Sorry if I came off as complaining was not wanting to give that impression. But again thanks for the advice and hope to get to know some of you.

AFHPFUL - if all you focus on is what sucks then everything will suck. Your on a carrier, pretty cool in my book, you work in aviation, also pretty cool, find a mentor, find the positive and enjoy the shit out of it. When I was in you couldn't transfer until you reached a certain skill level and then it was a maybe not a definite so don't pin your hopes on that - good luck and be safe on the line.

Introduction

Hey everyone!

I am currently a junior at The University of Alabama in Huntsville and I'm considering a career in the military once I graduate. I'm not 100% certain what path I'll take after graduation, but I may end up pursuing an 18X contract or perhaps go the OCS route. I can't wait to read the posts on this forum in order to help me make an informed decision and hopefully find some great training tips in order to get "SF fit".

Thanks in advance!
