36 years ago this night

36 years ago this night, about 500 men of the 1st and 2d Ranger Battalions boarded C-130 aircraft at Hunter Army Airfield, GA and embarked on Operation Urgent Fury, the invasion of the Caribbean island of Grenada. Just after dawn on 25 October 1983, the Rangers executed a low level (< 500 ft) combat parachute jump under intense enemy ground and anti-aircraft fire, and conducted follow on ground combat operations to secure all assigned objectives. These men were some of the most highly trained and highly motivated elite warriors on the planet. I am honored, privileged and humbled to have been counted among their ranks.

I was in awe back then, extremely proud and terribly bummed I was not there to make that jump with so many of my friends. Rest in Peace, Warriors!
