Model 870 Tac 14

https://www.remington.com/shotguns/p...del-870-tac-14

Has anyone used one of these yet? Seems like a dependable brand, and I like the short barrel without hitting NFA definitions.

My only concern is how many shells it would hold. It would still not be my go to for home defense, but a nifty 3rd or a weapon to dicretely place in the home to buy me time to get to my rifle.
I do like the aesthetics, but function, damage, capacity, and rate are high on my priority list.
I figured the pros on this board would have some advice and things to say about it.

MSRP is around $450

I think a pistol grip shotgun is more "cool" than it is functional.

With a decent buckshot load that thing would be like a rat turd, sharp on both ends.

Agreed. A high brass round in that thing would probably be a pretty good ride.

IF I were going to go with a shotgun of that or a pistol grip style, I'd go 20ga.

Shoot it with the Aguila short buckshot or slug shells, then?

I bought my wife some low recoil 00 for her 870. It's the regular 9 .32 pellets, but low brass. She can handle it OK, but her gun is a full stock.

Pretty much the same gun I used to breach as an assaulter (1000 years ago). I agree that it has no real practical purpose, kicks like a mule with high brass, and there is no reason for a FAG like me to own one.....
My LGS is actively seeking one at this time, if I never shoot it, it will hang off my bookcase on the bunji cord that I used back in the day (yeah, I kept it....no idea why).

So...where to start...

Remington may "seem" like a dependable brand, but seeming don't mean shit.

That shotgun is going to rock your world. Putting micro shells in it would make the recoil manageable, but also defeat the purpose of a shotgun.

It is a novelty weapon. I might even buy one, for giggles and snorts, as I have a lot of guns, some practical, some not. That one is not practical for anything.

Probably will purchase the Mossberg version (released a couple of months ago). Either that or just pay the $5 tax stamp for an AOW, which will manage the recoil better. Remington QC ain't what it used to be...

True that.. Had a few friends that worked for Remington for years, all fired/downsized whatever with new management. Had one of their dudes in a suit deliberately turn his back on me at SHOT this year. My buddy physically removed me before I could express my displeasure.

I guess if you had to give it a redeeming value, cool is about the extent of it. Other than breaching, WTF?

Nostalgia, and a cool wall hanger. Maybe I'll set up some door frames and see if my breaching skills have deteriorated along with my fitness and intelligence.

Put it in your ruck with just the grip sticking out and you're Eli, trekking across the Death Lands...
