All the advice above is good. Be aware, Acadia in August will be pretty packed until school starts.
Duffy's in Kennebunk is decent or Federal Jacks in the Port.
I work there a few days a week sometimes.

Maybe? that would be Hot Messes choice. I'll ask my boss on good watering holes in that area. He's a picky drunk.

Or we could do the Frank Jones? HM can stay at the Riviera.

You can, but it's kind of a roundabout way to get here. The direct route wouldn't take you through VT.

+1 on Bar Harbor, scenic, great restaurants, etc.

If you are looking for small town Maine experience try Machias which is "Downeast" Maine, annual Blueberry festival, and Lobstah!!!

Portland has great fooderies as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided that due to the limited amount of time Id do the Portland area. Two days in Portland, two days on an island, and then back. Seemed like a better use of time.

Northern Outdoors, up in The Forks, Maine. Great rafting and accommodations. They have their own brewery as well. ATV trails, hiking. Its a bit of a ride, but its worth it.

If you make you way over to NH, make a trip to White Mountain National Forest. We stayed in Attitash this past March, and made it over to Bethel, ME for lunch one day. One of the best pizzas ever...then again, we were famished. Stop by the Kittery Trading Post for guns-n-shit.

Cool. I thought maybe one of the islands off Portland. Waste of time. Monhegan should be a good time.

KTP is a rip-off IMO. You didn't call me for bail so you must have behaved.

Kittery Trading Post definitely isn't cheap.

KTP is ok but you're not going to get good deals on ammo or modern guns/ARs. I've had a couple major scores on sporting guns there and some odd ball metric ammo. They are pretty good on trade-ins as well. They also get "demo" guns in pretty often. I picked up a Remington 783 for $250 and an R51 for $300. It's worth a stop if it's on your way.

You ever make this trip? Still up for a SOCdrink. Even if GPC insists on Applebees

38 posts and I haven't read one about where to get the best lobster roll.

Massgrunt will probably chime in and say "Boston".

York Maine. There really is no best though. The proper lobster roll (lettuce, a little mayo and a buttered and toasted hot dog bun) is impossible to fuck up so the good ones are all exactly alike.
