MLB Baseball 2018

Happy Opening Day Everybody.

Cubbies get it kicked off at 12:40 against the Marlins.

Lets go Cubs. Interested to see how the rotation pans out. Schwarber had a monster spring, hopefully he worked on his defense.

LA will be tough again. Houston the same probably.

Good luck to all the teams - Hope Springs Eternal.

It was a long, looooong winter my friend.

The Evil Empire is back. The Yanks are the bad guys once again and I absolutely love it.

I'm still waiting for social justice to break into MLB...

Plain old baseball needs some controversy to spice it up a little.

The Blue Jays are not going to be that good until 2019 or when they bring up their best prospects waiting in the wings, Guerrero Jr, Bichette etc.

However, I hope they kick the Stankees ASS today and all year

Awesome shirt

Orioles vs Twins at 3:05 from Camden Yards. Bundy is opening it up for the Orioles.

I will be watching my beloved Orioles from afar this year.
We skipped opening day due to finances and logistics.

Glancing at all the stats that are now in vogue, they are placing the Orioles in the cellar.

They did pick up Alex Cobb to help their rotation.
He was always a favorite of mine when he was with the Rays even though many times in the past the Orioles pounded him.

This year will be the year of the minor league games for us.

We plan to run up and down I-85 from Durham to Greenville SC along with a side trip to Columbia SC to catch the teams.

The Bulls will be mandatory since house is not too far from the stadium but my place in Kannapolis is also right around the corner from that stadium.

Great way for Ian Happ and the Cubs to start the season.

First pitch of the season and hits out of the park.

Cubs new lead off man Ian Happ hit the first pitch of the season out of the park. Cubbies get 3 runs on 1 hit, with 3 hit batters in the first inning.

A good start.

"hopefully he worked on his defense"

From CBS Sports Game Tracker:

Anderson singled to left, Castro scored, Anderson to third on left fielder Schwarber fielding error

I'm 74 and I could still play left field better than Schwarber.

Caught the preseason Sacramento Rivercats (AAA) for the Giants and the Giants play last Saturday.

I have season tickets to the Cats, doubt I will use them all. If you are in the greater Sacramento area, PM me. I am donating two pair of tickets to established SOCNET members. Seats are behind home plate.

I hope she holds on a little longer
Sent a letter on a long summer day
Made of silver, not of clay
I've been runnin' down this dusty road

I've been trying to make it home
Got to make it before too long
I can't take this very much longer
I'm stranded in the sleet and rain
Don't think I'm ever gonna make it home again.

In his very first Yankee at-bat.

Red Sox getting their fans blood pressure up early. Way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, bullpen.

The Orioles started the season off on a high note.

Bottom of the 11th walk off home run by Adam Jones.

Also good to see the Rays start off the season with a win especially against the dreaded Red Sox.

You know baseball season is here when the snow starts falling during the home opener, as it did for the White Sox yesterday. Crazy.

If MLB wants to do something about increasing fan interest in the game, they might consider a later start to the season, shaving about 10 games off the schedule and starting the playoffs in September.
