Yeah DiDi is a beast.

I'm still not sure about Boone and this baseball 'analytics' style of managing. I liked Gerardi, and I think Cora (with that team from New England) is good, he's got an attitude....I believe that you need strong leadership at the top to lead any team.

I'm not sold on the 'moneyball' analytics style of managing, where you make moves 'by the numbers' and percentages.

I dunno, I guess we're gonna find out.

Here, catch!

This is pretty funny, Mets catcher Jose Lobaton drops a pitch that Jeurys Familia had just thrown, and while he goes to pick up the ball in front of the plate he doesn't see the plate umpire getting ready to throw another ball to Familia.

The ump and Lobaton each throw their balls back to Familia, one after the other, and hilarity ensues.

Yankees 3 out of 4 vs. the World Champ 'Stros in their building....great playoff like series. Need another starting pitcher though.

I know this is blasphemy but.....DiDi is better than Jeter

You're right about one thing: that's blasphemy.

As I posted earlier, Didi's done a phenomenal job stepping into The Captain's shoes but better than Jeter? Come on man, Gregorius has only been in the Bigs for 5.5 years and been a Yankee for just 3 years. Jeter was instrumental in helping the Bombers win 5 WS rings, is the Yankees all-time career leader in hits, doubles, games played, stolen bases, times on base, plate appearances, and at bats. He's gotten five Gold Gloves, five Silver Sluggers, is the 28th member and first Yankee in the 3,000 hits club, which makes him sixth all-time in hits and first all-time for shortstops. I'm a huge Didi fan but we're about 14.5 years from being able to start taking about who's "better" than who...

The way the Orioles are playing, it would/could not hurt them to give this a try.

We were upset that we could not get MASN/MASN2 here in NC without paying extra. The way the season is starting out, it does not seem to be a big deal now.

We will see the Tides though when they come to NC.
But again the way the Orioles are playing, management may just switch both teams.

The comeback yesterday was incredible, no doubt. Last time I checked, we were down 5-3 going into the top of the 9th and next thing I knew, we'd scored 3 and then Chapman came in and threw 3 straight 101-mphs past Altuve to take the W.

Order those rings...

There has been a lot of revisionist history when baseball analysts talk of Jeter's career, mainly focused on his WAR ranking. While the WAR ranking is useful in some respects, it doesn't really take into account a player's actual feel for the game and their baseball "instincts".

There were better shortstops than Jeter, to include current players, but he had certain intangibles (yep, managers still consider those) that puts him a cut above a lot of other players of his era.

When I think of Jeter I always think of this play, famously known only as "The Flip", during a ALDS game back in 2001. It wasn't his responsibility to cover the first base line like that, but there he was running across the infield to get the off line throw on one hop and instantly toss the ball to Posada for the tag out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxzR0RKRWTQ

They don't teach that, it comes from many years of playing the game and developing a feel for what's happening inside the lines.

Agreed Spinner. Jete's had an air about him. He was the captain, team leader and is a class act. Don't know if there's 'analytics' for that.

Sure there is. Lifetime 300 hitter, 3,000+ hits and 5 rings :).

^^^(Shit, I knew I was opening up a can a worms….now I got NYPD 5-Oh on my ass:)

All I was sayin’ is that I don’t think ‘analytics’ measure’s some of the intangibles that Spinner brought up that Jeter obviously had (leadership, presence, savvy), kind of back to my original point of managing solely by the numbers (although it seems to be working right now).

Jete’s one of the greatest Yankee’s.... EVAH…....BUT…… IMHO, I think Didi is a better athlete. More pop in his bat, makes all the plays, more speed. Will he reach the height that DJ reached? Don’t know…. you need a great supporting cast to win championships…and DiDi doesn’t seem to have Jete’s ‘presence’….yet.

Yanks need another power pitcher…like the way Verlander went to the ‘Stros, in order to go all the way and be stable for years to come, Sonny Gray doesn't do it for me ….

Go YANKS!!!

+1 on this. And they're going to get one! We're bursting at the seams with talent...I'd say I can't wait to see what move(s) they make if they werent playing so damn well. We're rolling!

And he gave away fantastic gift baskets to his many female guests.

The Bronx Bombers are on a roll, winning the last 14 of their 15 games and outscoring their opponents by a blistering +58 runs during the same time period...

In other news, a hearty "get well soon!" to Yadier Molina...

Make that 15 of the last 16...

After the Yankees came back from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game, Francona decided to intentionally walk Stanton and pitch instead to Torres, who proceeded to smash a homer into the bullpen with two men on.

Order the rings...

The Bronx Bombers are no joke. Looks like Torres is legit!
