The football gods decided to just go with the Jags and the point spread.

I guess my offering of a burnt picture of Trestman just wasn't enough.

And now we have Refgate:

https://nypost.com/2018/01/21/ref-congratulates-tom-brady-for-conspiracy-theory-gold/

Quote:
It wasn’t Tom Brady’s hand that set conspiracy theorists’ minds racing.

After the Patriots’ come-from-behind, 24-20 triumph over the Jaguars in the AFC Championship on Sunday, an official walked over to the glove-less wonder and patted him on the back to get his attention. He then used the universal nice-job-man pat to the chest, congratulating the 40-year-old on clinching his eighth Super Bowl appearance. It was enough to gain notice of a few NFL players and enough to begin the complaints of every Patriots critic (meaning, every non-Patriots fan).

And the Vikings show their true colors once again.

Jags gave TB too many opportunities to score and he made them pay. Good game - wish the outcome would have been different.

When do pitchers and catchers report?:)

I only got the watch most of the first two quarters of the Jax-NE game. It was 14-3 Jax when I last saw it, but before I left I told my son in law that there was too much money and viewership involved for the league to let a Jacksonville versus Vikings super bowl happen in frozen Minnesota. People would not want to go, non-fans would tune out a game with no celebrities in it, advertisers would be furious at the rates they paid, and with declining attendance all year that was just a headache the league didn't want. I told my son in law that if it got the to fourth quarter and the Pats were still losing, it would start raining pass interference flags on the Jax defense. I don't know if it was the officiating, or poor play by the Jax defensive backs, but that seems to be exactly what occurred.

In what has been a disaster season for the NFL moneywise, the Eagles Patriots matchup is the best possible outcome for the league. I was hoping the Jags could pull it out but one cannot give TB that much time and great field position.

The PI call against the Jags for 60 yards is quite questionable, especially since there were zero PI calls and zero holding calls against the Pats when there were several obvious instances.
I don't mind the Pats winning when it is clear they are that good, but more balance in officiating would be nice.

That PI call was really questionable. The biggest problem for the Jags in the second half was that they were not playing on the Pats side of the field. So even when our D stopped them the punt would pin the Jags O back on the 10 and they never did enough to switch the field.

You give Tom Brady enough chances and he will eat your lunch. Good year for Jax, hopefully a harbinger of things to come.

I thought that personal foul call on the Gronk hit was bs as well.

Dude hit him with his shoulder first, seen that play a thousand times and no call. That and the PI call led to a TD.

Jags outhit the Pats all.day.long.

What a great season for the Jags. With just a few more pieces, they will be outstanding. I'm not sure Bortles is the long term answer.

I'll bet Eli has a few more good years in him.....

You know, I used to think that, but I don't any more. Every season the flavor of a team changes, and other teams know what to do to capitalize. I saw it in Carolina last year, I saw it in Atlanta this year.

There are about 20 teams that just "need a few more pieces" but it never works out even if they get them.
