Wood/Acrylic CNC Machines

I'm looking at picking up a wood CNC 3-axis router. So far, I think I want to buy either of these two:

X-Carve: https://www.inventables (dot) com/technologies/x-carve

--or--

Shapeoko: https://wiki.shapeoko (dot) com/

I'm leaning towards the Shapeoko, but I wanted to see if any SOCNETTERs have experience with these systems, or wood CNC routers in general.

I use a Mac for computer design and transferring designs, so that's a factor in my choice.

Thanks

Tracy, depends on what you're making, how many of them you want, and what materials you're getting into. I've been looking at either the Shapeoko XL from Carbide 3D https://carbide3d (dot) com/shapeoko/

or going whole hog for something that's much more robust, the Laguna IQ: https://lagunatools (dot) com/cnc/iq-series/iq-24-36-cnc/

For guitar work I'd need 3' of working space to be able to make necks.

Still not sure if I'll make the jump to CNC operations or not, though. There's alot to be said for hand-made instruments

From what I've seen of your work, I wouldn't switch over. Your stuff looks damn good.

Anything that pops into my head. Seriously. I have no business model or plan.

I do small projects for the challenge.
