Texas Zombie Wars

It is not a secret that I am a fan of the genre. Here is a new movie coming out. The biggest thing this movie has going for it is the list of veterans(SOF and conventional) it claims to have acting in it. I listed some below but there are others. Link to the movie is at the bottom

Mikal A. Vega is a veteran that served in the military for over 22 years conducting special operations.

Dr. Dale Comstock Dale retired from the U.S. Army in August of 2001, after serving 5 years in the 3rd Special Forces Group (Green Beret) as the Senior NCO on an A-Team; 10 years with the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta (The Delta Force)

James Bane. Joined the Marines in May of 2000 as a Field MP. Iraq 2004 & 2006. Honorable Discharge in 2008

Howard " Max" Mullen Jr. was one of the most dynamic Army Ranger Instructors to serve during the mid 80s and early 90s. Max served as an Army Ranger Instructor and in all three of Ranger Battalions the 75th Range Regiment. Max is a 2013 U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame inductee. Max has entertained our troops both overseas and in the states through the "American 300 Warrior Tour". Since leaving the Army he has embraced his love and passion for acting.

Hmmm. from the plot (with a quarantine zone and all) sounds almost like a Joe McKinney story (He's SAPD and wrote some of his stories in texas, good dude).

Obviously low budget, but at least I wont scream at the tv like I do with TWD as they climb into a Winnebago with pump shotguns and ignore the humvee and all the full autos laying around.

I know (knew) Dale, back before he picked up his doctorate. Sure looks a whole lot different than before.

I really have no issues with the low budget of something, as long as it is a good story. The end scene of the trailer with the dude smiling at the gal on the other side of the glass while the zombie horde rises behind him doesn't offer confidence to the storyline being a good one.

Still, fingers crossed, and all....

Is it the same old dynamic of getting bit turns you in to one of them and having to put a hole in their head to kill them? Can't wait!

This thread seems as good as any to report the latest scientific findings concerning Zombies.

According to a mathematician, A Zombie apocalypse would soon overtake the entire planet and there would be no recourse, no way to stop it, short of coordinated attacks on the swarming hordes of undead.

http://www.livescience.com/38527-sur...ypse-math.html

So forget about holding up in a prison or fortified compound, picking them off one by one as you work to seek some cure or solution. There is no way out, you're doomed.

Whenever I think about the practicalities of a zombie Apocalypse, I always just think I'll go somewhere cold. The water in the skin would freeze after the zombies outside had a good storm or too.

Plus I could find a good mountain and always be the first to get fresh tracks on all the good pow days. No zombie is going to be able to catch me on my snowboard / cross country ski's waist deep in pow.

We could have jousting events where we ski down the mountain with a spear and take them out. My GPS says I can hit about 45mph pretty easily that's one fast horse.

Back on Topic:

I really like the idea of a bunch of BTDT's doing the fight scenes. I can't wait for those alone just to see all the cool ways they come up with to waste zombies if ROA wasn't in effect.

Your link is to a trailer, not the movie. Or is the movie not out yet?

TFG... you are correct, it is the link to the trailer not the movie. The movie is scheduled to be released October 7th according to the IMDB website.

So...here's what I get from the trailer:

It's what World War Z would have been if Brad Pitt's character got killed off in Korea and the SEALs and Rangers had boogied out on the plane instead.

Fair disclosure - I am involved on this project on a number of fronts. Having a ton of fun BTW. For those on FB, there is a FB page with lots more pics. Videos coming soon

IMDB is correct, the current release date is Oct 7th. That said, it is Hollywood so lots can change.

The producer's model is to use as many vets as possible as actors in the production, with primarily SOF guys in the key roles. Erwin is in it, along with a MARSOC Marine named David Lonigro and others. Many of the extras are vets.

We launched a comic book tie-in at COMICcon San Diego this year as well. Vega and Max Mullen were there signing autographs etc.
