Recommend a 2 way radio

We're current using Motorola CP200's for the EP job I'm on, they're obviously the classic standby. But it sucks to wear that brick with a suit, and all the other crap on the belt. Is there a smaller recommended radio anyone is using with good range and penetration (heh, for hotels and wals and shit)?

We looked at those same radios Sharky linked to. They were too pricey for our unit and from what I was told by the Motorola rep in our area, for LE only.

We use the Hytera X1P on our detail. Has a lot of great features, blue tooth ear pieces work in conjunction with a BT PTT, encrypted, etc. etc. etc.

Can't go wrong with BaoFeng 2-ways.

I was going to mention them, but wasn't sure of the $$ range,
crypto, etc needs. We have a mix of Bao Fengs and Wouxon's
for our SO Search & Rescue team, and they work quite well.
Ungodly assortment of options, programmable with CHIRP,
low cost extender mikes, etc. Surprisingly durable for "twofer
$25" radios.

So we ended up with Motorola DLR1060's:

Sharky's were mega $$$, and there's the whole licensing issue. We put these in use over the last week and the guys using them are very happy (particularly since they value urban performance over wooded or ultimate line of sight). For the price, it's good.
