Cleaning house at Manchester NH VAMC

Good to see some action on any complaints. Boston Globe has a freewall up, so if you read a bunch of stuff there, open this link in a private window.

Quote:
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs David J. Shulkin, M.D., announced actions the department is taking immediately to respond to whistleblower concerns at the Manchester, New Hampshire, VA Medical Center (VAMC) detailed in an article in today’s Boston Globe.

The VA Office of the Medical Inspector and the VA Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection are being sent in beginning Monday to conduct a top-to-bottom review of the Manchester VAMC, including all allegations in the article.

In addition, effective immediately, the department has removed the director and chief of staff at the facility, pending the outcome of the review.

Alfred Montoya, the director of the VAMC in White River Junction, Vermont, will serve as the new director of the Manchester VAMC and the new chief of staff will be announced shortly.

Dr. Shulkin said, “These are serious allegations, and we want our Veterans and our staff to have confidence in the care we’re providing. I have been clear about the importance of transparency, accountability and rapidly fixing any and all problems brought to our attention, and we will do so immediately with these allegations.”

About time Manchester got an Enema. Disgraceful NH doesn't have a real VA hospital.
Hopefully examples are made.

Will turn out like the Phoenix director who sued to keep her job and won. I think if vets just sat outside and protested and never walked in the building the people would figure it out.

I don't think that there's even a long shot of a Phoenix repeat. The man who runs White River Junction has his act and the entire hospital together. I go to WRJ and I've never heard anyone badmouthing the place. Manchester gets badmouthed by everyone, it seems. If this man has the authority to do it, the place will be running like a sewing machine in short order.

I always liked the care I got at WRJ. Manchester has the send them to Boston attitude. Which sucks for folks like me that live 2+ hours away from Manchester.
I always supported former US Rep. Jeb Bradley when he tried to get NH a true VA Hospital.

Can't win, VAMC Manchester had a pipe burst that flooded a few floors. Guess wait times just went up.
