Do you think that any anticipated govt hiring freeze would affect these vacancies?

Hard to know for sure. I think there will be some type of govt-wide hiring freeze until the new administration figures things out. There might not be a total freeze - there might be some hiring of public safety personnel to replace normal attrition. The folks applying on this announcement wouldn't be hired right away (possibly a year) and they would be attrition hires. We have some in the pipeline now also and I think they are safe as we've budgeted/paid for school seats. We are going through a right-sizing effort now and looking to increase end strength. That effort could be impacted by a longer term reduction in govt hiring. This all me reading tea leaves and chicken bones so salt to taste.

FWIW - the announcement has closed. 5,000 people accessed the site and just over 3,000 applied. The actual number of spots is TBD but it will be low - likely less than 100. The process in very competitive and I know more than a handful w/multiple attempts. Bon chance to those who applied.
