Army Special Ops History - Detachment - A Special Forces

I ran across this article on Google News. Pretty good piece on the Cold War history of an early SF Unit.

Also includes a Haters guide to the Air Force.

Seems like I remember reading a pretty in-depth piece about them a while back. Fascinating stuff.

I enjoyed the book. It should also be noted or not that there is at least one board member that was in the book.

Couldn't have been too much of a secret unit as I was aware of it back in 1986. I did go to the link to read the Haters Guide to the Air Force, any elaboration? The SCUBA picture has the laid back grooming appearances of the typical Air Guard AF Reserve PJ team back during the 1970s and 1980s, except they definitely would have had some hot chicks hanging around them.

It wasn't a secret, but it wasn't talked about a lot. West Berlin was like that about a lot of stuff.

Obviously, there are a lot of folks here that know a lot of secret squirrel shit others don't. And for good reason. It shouldn't be broadcast until declassified.

I've heard of this unit before but not in detail and haven't read the book.

As far as the AF piece...just fucking with em. Some of the coolest cats I've trained and went to school with were CCT guys.

Worked with someone who was part of it. Seems like he had quite the good times out there. Looking forward to reading the book.

In my first job I worked with a lot of intel guys who would have us laughing over some of the stories. One guy said Berlin had the highest concentration of spies, anywhere, and that most of them knew each other and that it was a largely a big game.
